Some of you people need a reality check regarding the stature of Lsu basketball. You can't just snap you finger and land a top prospect.
Trent is building a program the right way...building relationships and slowly building up talent that will stay at school.
The guy has had success everywhere he's been. If we see decent progress by the end of this season, and I strongly believe we will, he deserves another year to keep it going.

Let's face it T from Ohio. He's not a good coach. At all.

Is that why all of the top prospects in the state are heading elsewhere? Gathers/Felix, etc? Trent has yet to recruit a high school player with potential to play in the NBA. Maybe in another five years we can hope to be NIT lock instead of a bubble team like we are this year.

Oh, really?

Did I miss something and Gathers committed? Felix switch?
The last I saw Gathers was on Twitter hammering the LSU fans after the National Championship game regarding the JJ hate......don't think he is heading here.

Maybe that's your problem.
Felix is a 5-10 PG. I think we're set there.

we have a solid chance at Rico still. Felix can't switch now.

Reality is that Trent has had his time, and his time is up IMO.

if he gets to 7 or 8 SEC wins and signs Rico I'll call this campaign a success.

This will probably be my last post on the subject, as I think too many of you have no idea how bad of a program LSU has been, and why there is no "quick fix" here.
Think of all the teams in the SEC..... Think of how bad South Carolina, Georgia have been. Ole Miss, Tennessee. Auburn.
Think of the "players" they've put in the NBA recently. Pat Burke from Auburn. Matt Frieje from Vandy. Renaldo Balkman from USC.
Now think of all the NBA talent that's come through LSU in the past 20 years. Two Final Fours. Wow. What a program.
If you had to place $100 on it right now.... which team has the worst record in the SEC since 1993?
I'll give you a second to place your bets, then you can scroll down for the answers.
Team (SEC Winning % since 1993)
Kentucky (.766)
Florida (.618)
MSU (.539)
Tennessee (.520)
Alabama (.515)
Arkansas (.493)
Vanderbilt (.480)
Ole Miss (.444)
Georgia (.425)
South Carolina (.408)
Auburn (.396)
LSU (.393)
Yep. All we need to do is find the "right" coach, flip that switch, and we'll be right back on top. Just like before. Should take 1-2 years TOPS. One of the best programs in the SEC. Nothing to it. There's no need to build a program over 5-10 years. The track record of success is already laid out in front of whoever is here. Realistically, ANYBODY should be able to succeed here.
Good luck with the coaching search, guys.

Your point? Length of tenure is not relevant for coaches like Brady, because they are not program builders.
They try to win THIS year, regardless of next year. Some people may like that approach, and that's fine. However, this approach has killed the LSU fanbase over the past 20 years. It's feast or famine, mostly famine.
The LSU administration has said that they would like stability and that is what Trent Johnson is trying to accomplish. He may fail and a new approach may have to be undertaken, but that is yet to be determined.

Any idea on when Rico will make his choice?

So in the meantime we get a team that 4 players stand around on offense, while the guy handling the balls jacks up a ridiculous off balance contested shot?
BS......a lot of other programs who have a helluva lot resources than us are fairly consistent tournament teams. Our team/program is an embarassment this year. Trent has had 4 years to at least show we are climbing out of this morass.

I am not for or against this philosophy, as I am not for or against Trent Johnson. I am simply for the LSU basketball program and would like to see some stability.
The point is that LSU has not been a consistent tournament team since Shaq was here 20 years ago. As was illustrated by another poster, LSU is the worst basketball program in the SEC over the past 20 years.
