He's won a total of 2 NCAA tourney games in his career. I mean I think he will be a good coach..but Im not gonna go crazy over this hire. I think it's in line with the type of program we have here at LSU.
Huh? He's been to the sweet 16 at least twice (nevada and stanford) so thats at least 4 wins.

Yeah, I just realized that when I saw the area code at the top of the page.

i was being a little over-enthused but you got to get behind the new coach 100%

So you think he brings Jeremy Green (4* SG) with him. Green is from Texas so it would bring him closer to home

I hate to say this but this is a questionable hire. After last year's NCAA tourney debacle against Louisville, he was on the hot seat before this year with The Cardinal fan base, not surprised he is taking the first job offered to him.

You need to read the entire thread..and then you will see that I explained that his profile didnt list this years team. I only saw the one sweet 16 appearance at Nevada..and forgot about this year.
Happy now?

hey guys, remember when we hired a football coach with a less than impeccable resume? That worked out pretty well for LSU huh?
Posted on 4/9/08 at 12:06 pm to Elleshoe
yeah but jamarcus and glenn dorsey aren't currently on the hoops roster

hey, we did it twice and both of those guys got the recruiting done to win games at a high level. seems like this guy does ok recruiting.
Posted on 4/9/08 at 12:08 pm to HOUbengal
Why didn't Stanford offer this guy a contract extension?

another news outlet reporting it
It is the same story, but I guess it is a different "outlet." I posted that article to our Fox News Louisiana websites in BR, Shreveport and Lafayette, plus NBC 33 in BR.

Trent Johnson is definitely not on the same coaching level as Miles or Saban. LSU hoops fans will be longing for the Final Four run of Brady after a few of those 18-13 seasons Johnson is known for.
