@CodyWorsham #LSU hoops history oddity: 25 years ago, Maurice Williamson, a guard from New Haven, Conn. – where Tremont Waters is from – broke his nose and had to wear a protective mask. He helped lead LSU to the SEC Tournament finals and an NCAA Tournament berth as an 11 seed.
Another interesting fact: Anthony Hickey and Mike Hansen both went to high school in Hopkinsville, Ky.
ALSO Duop Reath was born in the Sudan and moved to Perth, Australia at age 9.

Maurice missed the shot that would have beat Ga Tech, who went on to the final Four.

Incoming freshman Nazereon Reid is from Roselle, NJ the hometown of legendary LSU center and defensive force Greg "The Cookie Man " Cook. Cook was a key cog in the emergence of LSU as a national power in a fantastic climb to the top.
Just as Williamson and Waters from the same home town sustained fractured noses while playing for LSU, it is anticipated Nazereon Reid will also mimic Greg Cook in being a key component in another fantastic climb to the top by LSU basketball.
Unfortunately the Cookie Man is no longer with us to share in it. Cook had the meanest elbows in college basketball before use of the elbows was grounds for a technical foul. He patrolled the paint, got 8 to 10 rebounds per game while other players got the glory. That was an incredible era and hopefully the current Tigers and their coaches will be remembered years later for their accomplishments.

This....in the 1980 SEC Tournament Final....the only one LSU ever one, he planted one of these squarely in Sam Bowie's back. Sam was Cookie's bitch the rest of the game.

And based on his mediocre (being generous) play at LSU, there's a reason that he didn't get recruited to play for UK.

Wouldn't his shot have tied it? They won, 94-91. Regardless, we blew a 22-5 lead.
