what?

He's saying that the right play was called and that if the players had just played it the way it was called, they'd have been in position to make the play. He's saying that they need to worry about their assignments and not everybody else's.

My interpretation: If this team doesn't get this basic idea, then the team is really self-focused, undisciplined, and poorly coached.

Just seems to me he's saying that people are over-extending themselves and not trusting their teammates.

So basically he was saying "it wasn't my fault, the players sucked it up"

Got it. Thanks.

Kinda but not really. To play good defense, everybody has to play within the scheme. If you have one or two guys freelancing then the scheme breaks down.

He's saying the players didn't play within the scheme but the reason is because he hasn't coached them to. He's taking the hit for the players not being in position even though the right play was called.

This was the exact thing said after the Georgia game about the blown assignments on the TD's, was it not? So what is the problem, are the coaches not getting through to the guys or they just doing thier own thing?

It doesn't matter what they called, we don't have the horses to run the race on defense this year (Welter, Collins, Rasco, Loston, etc.). We simply are not talented enough to stop opposing offenses.

Chavis did not all of the sudden in one year forget how to coach and call defense.

We don't have the talent.

Hell, Freak Johnson is supposed to be our best defender. He was blocked by one man most of the night and pancaked by the one man numerous times. He was not and has not been a factor all year long.

When he is supposed to be the best you have and he is a non-factor, you are in trouble.

Bro Wallace looked (for the second year in a row) like a damn 1st rounder against us. (30 for 39.....repeat 30 for 39 passing).

I suppose it is admirable for Miles to take credit for not coaching them up. What he should be doing is taking credit for not recruiting a suitable defensive unit to replace those that departed in the draft.

We are LSU...like Bama, we are going to lose players early every year. His recruiting failures have come home to roost on this team.

I like Les but I have to admit I think what we hear in these conferences is who he is and one of the reasons why we perform the way we do.

IF you cannot clearly communicate it is difficult to get others to respond correctly.

IT was fun for a while to listen to him but it is hard to believe this does not impact his coaching and communication

At the end of the day

It's hard for a coach to admit he has been out recruited. Delta Doc hit the nail on the head. This team is not good on defense. They are missing in talent evaluation.

I posted yesterday that the grass in Oxford is like taking some bad shrooms or acid. Miles must stop eating the Ole Miss grass.

Defensively we have guys on rushed, on their quarterback, on blocked I should say. We have guys that are supposed to have coverage on the exact area that the ball is thrown, and again, it's a confidence and a comfort that you just -- within the scheme, and to play like we play.
I love CLM, but trying to comprehend this made my head hurt.

"Our strength is a team that thinks they can make every play. They can make every play. I'm just letting you know, this football team is talented and they go to the field with the idea that they can make every play. Our weakness is, in this game, was that they thought they had to make every play and that they needed to win the game with that play. And to me, all they had to do was play the scheme..."
This is exactly what I was thinking in the fourth quarter.

You can't comprehend. Some things just can't be translated from Lesism to English.

Bottom Line. When your QB throws 3 picks on the road 2 of which in the end zone and scores 0 points in a half. Any college football team could beat you. Our defense is not good enough to overcome that. Period. Move on and beat Furballs !

I am not saying there would be no drop off...no one in their right mind would...but we gave up over 500 yards of offense to Ole Miss, who was without arguably their best offensive player (Jeff Scott).

With the exception of Florida, we have given up copious amounts of yards to everyone.

Whether you want to admit it or not, this team is lacking talent on defense. Some of it is because of recruiting misses that no one could have foreseen (like Loston) and some of it is losing in-state players like Landon Collins, Tim Williams and Duvall to Alabama.

We always lose talent to the NFL off of the defense...we lost a little more this year than normal years. Even still, we are starting players on our defense right now that would have been lucky to get special teams reps three or four years ago. That is undeniable and it is not the players fault...they are doing their best with what God gave them.

The Casey Stengel/Yogi Berra doubletalk routine is all funny and colorful when you're winning.

After a loss like this? Not so much.

You guys do realize that these transcripts are full of mistakes? They type down what they can and post it, it's not proofread.
