Les is not leaving. To post this thread is stupid unless you want him to leave. He's happy at LSU.

Wow! And you call yourself an expert?

Please rewatch the end of this year's Tennessee game, last year's Ole Miss game and the bowl game against Penn State.

You must have a very short memory.

You like Les. That's cool, I get it, but you can't be serious. He is far from the best in the country.

Getting a new coach doesn't guarantee success. It doesn't guarantee anything but uncertainty. The LSU fanbase as a whole has never grasped this concept and I think never will.

This is spot on. The morons crying for Miles to be fired need to have this beat into their thick skulls.

Rich Rod was considered a top coach and was highly sought after when Michigan got him. Look how that worked out. Dan Hawkins kicked arse at Boise State and he sucked arse at Colorado. etc etc

In fairness, the late personnel change in the game did ULTIMATELY succeed in confusing Tennessee.

Did I think it was a stupid thing to do? Yes, but you can't sit there and say it didn't work.

What happened in that game that was Miles' fault? I don't recall anything other than both teams struggling in that quagmire of a field. And do keep in mind the previous four bowl games where LSU dismantled their opponents.

hey kid, you could come up with 3 games in which ANY head coach made mistakes in IF he has been around for more than a year. THEY ALL make mistakes, including your dream bj nick saban......The bottom lines is wins/losses and keeping our arse clean, and with a little bit of class and minus the thuggery. There are very, very few coaches who have done this better than les miles over the last six years..period.

if LSU was 8-3 right now, you would not be feeling this way. you wouldn't be saying this.
But LSU is not 8-3 and ANY coach in that situation would certainly be under scrutiny, not just Les.

I for one would be VERY upset, not so much at Les Miles, because honestly how the "fans" have treated him they deserve this, but because of the fact that we are losing our best coach we have had. Now, let me back up that last statement with a little bit of reasoning and stats. Les Miles is the fastest coach in LSU history to get to 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 wins. He now has AVERAGED winning 10 games in a season 4 out of 6 times. This is while coaching in the toughest conference by far in that time span. No other coach in LSU history is even close to that. He has lost 1 out of conference game since he has been here, and some of those wins weren't against teams like ULM either. There is also his ability to continue to pull wins out in games where a loss seems a 100% possibility. But besides all of his accomplishments on the field. Look around at college football and tell me what programs have had continued success after making coaching changes from a guy who was a proven winner? Tennessee? Michigan? Miami? USC? Even Alabama went through about 3 or 4 coaches before getting Saban. It is just really hard to get a guy that will come in and continue winning at the mark of the guy before him. This current coach is winning at almost 80% through 6 years. That, among all of the other facts, is a very good reason why I hope that he doesn't do anything but sign an extension with LSU.

I am in agreement with the sentiments expressed in your post, and I think they were dead on. Just to pick a small nit relative to the quoted sentence, with 61 wins (so far)in 6 seasons, he has AVERAGED 10 wins a season across his entire tenure here.

The objective was not to confuse Tennessee, it was to substitute to a different personnel package in order to execute a specific play. It was an absolute meltdown of epic proportions, and coming on the heels of the two previous meltdowns, it confounds reason that anyone would claim the architect of these 3 meltdowns to be the "best coach in the country."

GMAFB. You homers are unbelievable.

I would be happy for Miles if he left because of all the abuse he has taken from the "Hall of Fame" armchair quarterbacks on the board.

I would be upset for a couple of reasons.

1.)He has brought a new echelon of integrity and downright sportsmanship and character to the program.
2.) I would be upset for HIS players here at LSU because they truly and most justifiably respect the coach they play for. He has earned the respect of the players he coaches and they would lose more than just a football coach if he left.

Other than that, I do feel like a number of LSU fans have an over-inflated view of the status of the head coaching job at LSU... thinking that anyone would jump to come here and that anyone would be incredibly successful here.

Did I think it was a stupid thing to do? Yes, but you can't sit there and say it didn't work.

Crowton admitted in an interview it was a stupid thing to do and to try to spin it into something that was not intended, i.e., to "confuse Tennessee" if not so laughable would be inherently tragic. Crowton and Miles fricked up the back end of that game, just as they have several other games at the end of halves.

Exactly. Name ONE big name school, just ONE, that wants Les Miles as their head coach. That's all you need to know right there.

And don't say Michigan, Les himself was quoted as saying "Michigan never called", and he was highly disappointed at that. This guy would have left us in a heartbeat in the middle of a NC run, and the sunshine pumping Les lovers think he's so "loyal" to LSU. He was waiting for Michigan's call.

Any good coach could come in here and give us 9-10 wins per season WITHOUT an SECC or NC, same as the last 2 years. To get a championship usually requires a lot of things to fall into place. A new coach would give us a lot less headaches, a lot less closer games, and a LOT less national embarrassment.

Reading that one paragraph lets me know that you haven't really thought out what you posted. You cannot say those things with any degree of certainty. IE you are full of shite.

two previous meltdowns

I must have missed how Miles was responsible for the Penn State "meltdown." We were about 10 yards out of Jasper's range with time left for another two or three plays.

Then the Penn State LBer decided to sit on Brandon LaFell and let the clock run, and we were penalized 15 yards when someone (Hurst?) decided to shove him off.

And I've seen this same situation at least 5 times this season with no consequences for the shover.
