I'm not saying that I want him fired/gone, but would anyone else be not that upset if Les Miles was able to parlay this season into another job with the NFL/UM?

IMHO, Les Miles is like one of these volatile stocks that change 200% between the red and the black every day. It's in the very nature of what he is as a coach. In 2007, the dice fell his way. the team could've lost to Auburn and Florida, and did lose to Arkansas. But they lucked out. Last two years teams could've just as easily been 10-1 at this point. This season is just as close to 8-3 as last year, but a bounce and an extra player made it work out.

Would anyone else be upset if we "sold" high?

I'd love for him to stay-but this could be Rich Rod's last season. I don't think he passes up Michigan again if they come after him.

all depends on whether, or not, we "buy low" for his replacement...

If Les leaves so does at least some of our great recruiting class due to staff moves

So, no thanks.

Nebraska once fired Frank Solich for going 9-4. They were NEBRASKA and could attract any coach they wanted and were undoubtedly destined for more success. Ask them how that worked out for the program.

Getting a new coach doesn't guarantee success. It doesn't guarantee anything but uncertainty. The LSU fanbase as a whole has never grasped this concept and I think never will.

Yeah, a little bit. Have stated many times I don't see a realistic, suitable replacement.

This is actually a pretty good analogy, but maybe not for the reason you assert. Stocks fluctuate wildly from day to day without there being even a scintilla of change in the assets, earnings or prospects they represent. They fluctuate because traders make more of an impact on markets than long-term investors, and traders flip hot and cold based on rumor, speculation, and other factors unrelated to the inherent value of the asset.

And way more money gets made staying the course with a proven company than trying to time the market and sell high on what happened in the last 10 minutes.

OK. Name your replacements. Who do we "trade" Les for?

You're waaaay too smart for this board. I mean it, too.

i'm going to start the rumor that the new parking fees are to buy out Saban's contract at Bama since Miles is leaving for Mich once they fire richie.

i will be responsible for saving LSU tailgating.

If Miles doesn't want to be here after the loyalty LSU has shown him then he needs to go. LSU has given him extensions and a very fat contract. The LSU program has been more than fair to him. If he wants to take a pay cut to coach at his Alma mater then I wish him luck and LSU football will survive.

granted it was on Skip's watch, but they went cheap with Les when things were rolling. Economy, TAF debt, how it would look politically with education cuts (even though money doesn't come out of those funds)...I'm not confident we don't end up with a Tommy Bowden type hire.

THIS!! You would think that miracle coaches that will guarantee NC's are a dime-a-dozen the way the rant talks about getting rid of Miles.

We DON'T need a new HC... the one we have can recruit, can get the best out of his players, and is damn fun (if not often frustrating) to watch. We need a new OC... then we'll be fine.

Damn... too many on this board born in the '90's, came of age about the time when going to a bowl game was expected. Pissed when we don't win 10 games.

I remember the year DiNardo took us to the Independance Bowl, and we damn near threw him a ticker tape parade!!

Trading refers to the act of stock trading, and my analogy to Les Miles as a stock.

Not swapping Les Miles one for one with another coach. I set up the conditions of this question. Les Miles leaves voluntarily. Would you be upset or not?

Reading comprehension, buddy.

all of this is irrelevant to the hypothetical question that I asked.
