I think Toviano is a very talented but young kid who hasn’t had enough reps at safety. Keep sending him up!

What bothers me is that preseason we were told our defense was playing well. Before this bowl game we were told Ticino was the replacement. Just not sure about the assessments being made and reported. If there is a problem I hope BK fixes it soon.

Toviano gave a great effort and needs more time to develop at safety. He would make a good depth piece. I will say if we don’t go in the portal and get 2 safeties and one of them should be able to play corner if needed we will not be a championship team. We haven’t had good safety play for several years.
The reason one needs to be able to play corner if needed is because I am not sold on Stamps.

Maybe the safety coach and db coach aren't on the same page.

The defense played about like coach said they would play before the season started. He told us we would be better with blown coverages and we would create turnovers but that we still had a ways to go.

He also said toviano was picking up the position good in practice. Well,he led the team in tackles yesterday or was close to the lead

Seems pretty spot on from coach

We will see.

The position has been an issue this season.

He had the talent, but lacks experience.

Time will tell.

Toviano a freshman?

No, but he’s never played a traditional Safety role in college before yesterday. He played CB in 23 and was a backup Star earlier this season.

He made some good plays but I think Gilbert is more of a natural safety. Toviano seems to be more of an athlete playing safety than a safety.

Entire defense took a step back when Weeks went down.

I think even before that it was very concerning how wide open their receivers were so often. Fortunately, their QB was very hit or miss with his accuracy and missed several of those open receivers and also, they kept trying to run the ball - and we actually were doing a decent job of stopping that.
