Maybe not, but road fans didn't go around cheering for the TB rays when they suddenly climbed out of the toilet and started beating everyone's arse.

Again, what goes on in the professional level and the amateur level are pretty different.

Holy shite do we think highly of Stoney Brook.

Maybe I have to change my thoughts on this. It's not because Tiger fans feel they have to nurture college baseball or that they want to feel good about themselves for being classy. Maybe it's because David crushed Goliath and we need to make those poor little guys feel better.

thats not the case though. A better similarity would be the yankees losing to AA or A league team and the fans actually appreciating the hard work those guys put into the series

No it's not like that at all. SB was actually a much more talented team than us. Why can't these highly intelligent baseball fans understand this and look past their name ?

Because its the Rant and these people live their lives to be miserable and complain. When Jesus descends to take us all to heaven at the apocalypse I can guarantee you there will be a thread on this website complaining about it.

but its a better similarity than saying "the Yankees fans wouldnt hgh five the Red Sox players after they beat them in the playoffs"

neither one s really right, but the former is at least more of a comparison

Comparing two long time rivals in professional baseball to what happened in the collegiate level is not even close to being the same thing

Because in professional ball the bottom line is that people want to win. In college baseball (specifically Tiger baseball) we all want to make sure everybody that played in Alex Box feels good leaving no matter the outcome.

Yankee fans wouldn't cheer for anyone that knocked them out of the postseason.

A much more talented team that, when compared to LSU, had insignificantly miniscule resources, appeal, and draw to high school prospects. Yet they accomplished what they did anyway, and that is well worth a victory lap.

And the other fans just want to find something to complain about as trivial as this.

A person can still be disappointed over a loss and show respect to the opponent. High fiving Stony Brook after the game didn't cause those fans to cheer any less for LSU during the game.

Because they're playing PROFESSIONAL teams. Stony Brook was non-existant before this year. They can't be compared to any team on our level before this year's accomplishment. Just like a AA team can't be compared to the Yankees.

but neither are CFB, or hell even CBB teams, and yet no LSU fan is cheering for the team that ruins their seasons either.

The bottom line is that this only happened for 1 of 2 reasons. LSU baseball fans aren't all that invested in the success of their teams and program, or they're trying to prove a point about their own fandom.

The only way this "spirit of collegiate athletics" bs would be true, is if we cheered for an average Arkansas team in 2007 after they seemed to have ruined our season.

Did you stay in tiger stadium to cheer for UAB when they upset us years ago? Were you ready to salute Troy St when they jumped out to that big lead?

I can see this being the reason. But I don't really care. Either way it puts LSU on the national stage as a place people want to go to, visit, and experience. People respect our name and our school for it, and it brings nothing but positivity to our reputation.

Would I have stayed and high-five'd everyone? No, I think its overboard. But I most certainly wont criticize those who do it, for whatever reason, because it glorifies the name of the university I love. That is enough for me.

It's obvious that the two of us can't get past our disagreement that football is different from baseball.

Besides, it doesn't matter. It's a positive thing, for whatever reason, and it makes our university a place people admire and want to be a part of. That's enough for me.
