Not all guys catch the pitch consistently.... Maybe a reason.

I find it interesting that Blue didn't get a single carry in the Bama game. Wonder why that is.

TBH I don't know. He hasn't had the ball security issues that Ford has had, but if I had to guess it would be because of Ford strength and speed combination. Blue may be fast, but he is not as powerful a downhill runner as Ford. Also, that 7 ypc. stat is a bit misleading, seeing that he has a low number of attempts and a few big gainers. Also, most of those attempts/gainers came in the 4th quarter, which most times isn't important, but with us wearing down D's this year, it's hard not to have those numbers late in the game.

Didn't Blue mishandle an option pitch last year? Against Vandy maybe?

its funny seems like last year the common thought pattern was that Blue was a large punishing runner. Now he is a slasher and one of our fastest backs.

hopefully they rotate series. keep both big men fresh and attack those linebackers. once they're tired let ford, shepard, and ODB33 work the outside

Ford seems perfect for the option.

It's not even that he is a slasher, he just isn't our most punishing runner. He has a good bit of power, and runs A LOT between the tackles, but he is more elusive than Ford, who will lower his head on bitches and deliver the blow. I have no doubt in Blue's abilities in any phase of the game, but he is not our best back, and that's the bottom line. It's retarded how much damn talent we have.

And as far as Blue mishandling an option, I could be mistaken, but I bet you are thinking about Ford missing a pitch, dropping it, and picking it up and heading around the other side from the play for a TD. Forgive me if I am wrong.

qb an rb have to have rt timing, if i recall last year jj pitched to blue abd he wasnt ready for it, that will be a fumble everytime. Even if JJ keeps it, tou still got to anticipate him pitching it at the last second.

Blue would be our most complete back if he was better at catching the football. I think Ware got overworked and was never the same after that injury to his hamstring. I'm hoping we get Cotton Bowl Ware back for the title game.

Jefferson has never run the option correctly even after all this time doing it. The option is supposed to be run with the QB(Jefferson) going into the defense in a turn it up the field style drawing the DE or LB, whomever is playin it towards the QB. If they don't react to the QB he can turn it up the field for positive yardage, if they react to the QB then he can kick it out to the RB(Ford) resulting in the RB turning it up the field for yardage. Jefferson when he runs it continues to go horizontally resulting in the RB having a short field when he gets the ball resulting in minimal to no yardage.

He has turned it up field sometimes this season, but not nearly enough.

Yeah - I think he is much better this year.

Last year he would go with Ford to the sidelines and then toss it when Ford was about to cross the sideline. It made me want to every time.

Like in the bama game, he was responsible for a couple of fords big runs by getting those huge monsters to commit to him.

Yeah, he runs it much better this year. I can only remember a very feew times he has run this play incorrectly. You are supposed to attack the DE, but if there is no DE to attack there, the safety usually steps up and that's who you attack next. He has been much better at finding who to attack this year, as opposed to being completely lost last year.

Hilliard should run the option from the QB position w/ shep as pitch man.
