The music isn't played "on site" per say. The guy running the board is in the Athletic Building so educate YOSELF FOOL.
I got this one.
Yes, the video board is operated from the Athletic Admin building.
However, the music you hear in Tiger Stadium is being controlled by a person in LSU's Sports Marketing department from the PA booth in the stadium. He/she sits right next to Dan Borne and all of the canned music is on a computer. The person clicks an icon, and voila, out comes "Calling Baton Rouge" or whatever other crap they decide to play. I have seen the process with my own 2 eyes. That is the definition of canned music...

I'm down for a good pissing match today.
By definition we hear piped music.

Whatever. It always made sense to me to differentiate between canned music and piped in music. The English language is vague sometimes and I still believe the proper term for what you hear at the stadium is "canned music". To me, "piped IN" implies that it is coming from an outside source, whil "canned" implies that it is on site. Can't argue with the thesaurus I guess. You win.

Fwiw, you can't even find a "definition" of canned music anywhere. Piped in comes up quite often however.

The question is, do you mind piped in music during the game? That is the point of contention.
I don't think too many people are complaining about pre-game stuff.

The only thing I don't mind is when they play the beginning of Hells Bells in the middle of a defensive series. The crowd gets up for that shite every time. What I don't like is that fricking Zombie Nation shite that's all across the country now.

USC’s pregame is fvcking terrible. It feels so artificial and forced that it’s borderline awkward.
if i want piped in, manufactured enthusiasm I'll go to a pro sports event.
piped in music messes with the pageantry that is college football in general, and LSU football in particular.

LSU basektball pregame is this times a thousand.
It's not only awkward but embarassing with a 3/4 empty PMAC and Borne trying to sound all enthusiastic...

This. It takes away the uniqueness of Tiger Stadium. We play at night, we don't bring shakers (pom pons or whatever you call those things), and until the last few years we did not need recorded music to get loud and excited. It sucks.

GREATEST POST EVER!!!!! I LIKE IT TOO!

I suggest anyone favoring piped/canned music over a marching band playing go to NFL games. At those, you can hear the same playlist @ all 32 stadiums! Those of us who like the unique atmosphere of a college stadium don't want bland uniformity of experiences @ different stadiums.

FWIW, it's per se. Sorry, I had to be that guy.

You can also hear it in Tiger Stadium besides "Callin Baton Rouge" and "Louisiana Saturday Night".
I would like to jump in and say that it would be ok with me if they actually played some unique stuff here and there. I'm not talking about playing indie rock or anything like that. But play something different other than Iron Man, Dr. Who theme, Cypress Hill, etc. Give us some crowd pleasers that you don't hear all the time. Be creative.
And for the love of God renovate the P.A. sound system so it doesn't sound like the radio cranked up in a '79 Camaro with busted 6X9s and no baffles.

I can't stand that piped in junk. You kids need to learn to appreciate what you have in a great college band playing timeless songs about your school and teams. If it takes that piped in music to get you ready to play or watch a game you aren't an athlete or true fan anyway. Just stick your ipod in your ear and pipe in all the music you want. I'll take the live college band any day.

I love two stepping to Callin Baton Rouge and Louisiana Saturday Night. I always get a major chill during callin br.
Bon Jovi needs to go. I can stand that song. Jambalaya on the bayou needs to be played. I like Jump Around and Stand up and get Krunk
Nothing beats the golden band though especially "pregame" but a piped in song is a good transition

Get to the game 2 hours early and you can hear your sweet piped in rap music.

Times are changing..... You don't have to accept it or like it but you'll learn to live with it... Quite frankly, the game atmosphere in TS is pretty much dead these days anyway, so I'm all for something getting the crowd pumped and if it's piped in music, so be it...
