My experences are liomited to football. Other than football I have not been privilaged to watch other sports except for 2 or 3 baseball games.
There is just no way I can limit this to five so I'll let the younger people name some of the more obvious players in recent years.
For the older crowd I just have to mention these players and my no means is this list complete. I'm sure many more names will come to mind. Some of these players played on both sides of the ball.
Sid Fournet
Warren Capone
Roy Winston
Johnny Robinson
Tommy Casanova
Mike Anderson
Y A Tittle (I was only 7 or 8 years old when I saw him play for LSU but I was there.)
Billy Cannon
Jerry Stovall
Bert Jones
Charles Alexander
And the list could go on. Fond memories in tiger stadium.

No particular order:
Todd walker
shaq
pistol Pete
kevin faulk
Dorsey
All could provide a highlight at any given moment. All could dominate a game and all could win a game with one clutch play. Several HM's.

Not sure. I know Wendell Davis would be in there however. One of my favorite to watch.

You can just about mix those up and let them fall out in any order EXCEPT Pete. He was hands down the best player I have ever seen play albeit I didn't understand exactly what I was watching at the time and certainly couldn't appreciate it (5 years old)... I just remember him from the Pro's later really...

Thanks Root canal, more fun than say, a root canal, at least.
I pondered Craig Steltz because he was a bigtime hitter and got his fair share of INTS. Laron was obviously a gamer also.

Maravich was unstoppable and incredible to watch. Freshman couldn't play varsity, so people would go watch him play as a freshman and then go home. He was carried off the court by fans at another SEC school when he made a half court hook shot at the end of a game. He single handedly took LSU to a final 4. He did things with a ball that no one had ever seen a guard do. He regularly drained the net with jumpers that would now be from 3 point range. I saw him hit a shot from about 6 feet beyond the top of the key. He looked like a Harlem globetrotter against college kids-he made passes on the move that were unbelievable. When he was drafted, he received the highest salary in NBA history to that point in time. He was like the Honey Badger of college basketball- basically did anything he wanted on the court in college. Simply incredible to see.

As for my lifetime of following LSU, which is late 90s to now. This is purely subjective.
1. Josh Reed (loved the offensive production)
2. Michael Clayton (just pure athlete)
3. JaMarcus Russell (just loved the big arm)
4. Tyrus Thomas (could jump out of the gym)
5. Chad Jones for both baseball and football, just made some memorable plays, Joe Adams hit, Bama fumble, deflected pass vs. Miss St.
