Why is lsu/georgia even on this list?
Completely agree. I can think of 10 other games that
it didn't even affect the national landscape of college footabll, not even the conference landscape. I don't get it. I think the writer is on a roll with all of this LSU buffoonism in the past year. No other explanation...unless the writer just hates LSU, and it's a valid argument in light of the Georgia game. I mean how ridiculous. You leave out Cal-Stanford, Miami-Ohio State (the f***ing national championship game), The UF-FSU game where Channing Crowder comes way with the fumble recovery (ball was clearly fumbled) from the pile at the UF goal line, yet the officiating crew hands the ball back to FSU, but you include an arbitrary call in an unimportant game as a member of your top ten? And it was arbitrary. There was a lot of celebration, and I don't know when the flag came in--as Green is running off the field, he is making some sort of gesture (kind of a "rise up")--but it wasn't like he high-fived a teammate and ran off the field. An argument could be made that the celebration was excessive. I don't think the call would make a respectable top 100. I mean we're talking the history of college football.
Plus, the Georgia defense could have made an attempt to tackle Charles Scott. Just sayin.'

It still kills me to look at that Auburn NON-pass intereference photo

what about Vandy @ Florida in OT?

Alabama @ LSU 2004. Obvious PI in the end zone on LSU, no call. Prolly cost Bama the game.
FAIL..That call happened in the third quarter, and LSU won 26-10. Bama got a total of 8 first downs and 196 total yards that game and were dominated by LSU defense all night.
No one should ever bring up the 2004 call without bringing up the 1999 call.

If the safety of the players is the number 1 priority then the LSU/Alabama 1999 game is number 1.
Official does NOT call injury timeout with an Alabama linebacker lying at his feet on the LSU side of the ball.

I recall a few other calls in that game going against LSU
At the end of the first half there was a pass by LSU into the EZ and our receiver was being bear hugged by the Auburn DB, no flag...

man that still pisses me off...

What was the score when that call was made?
eta:
Alabama entered the second half with a 10-6 lead and appeared poised to extend that lead after recovering a fumble deep in LSU territory with 12:57 remaining in the third quarter. But Tiger cornerback Corey Webster ended Bama's threat when he intercepted a pass from Tide quarterback Spencer Pennington in the endzone and returned it to the LSU 44-yard line.

i'm pretty sure it was kenny irons....I don't know if I've ever seen a CB hold on more plays than that guy

I think you're right.

Kenny Irons was the running back. It was his brother. Can't remember his first name.

So you think that call in the third quarter made made the difference of 16 points?
Bama scored 0 points in the second half.
What was the score when the call was made in 1999?

Not sure, but it was a momentum swing.

Ou/Oregon Being ranked that low is a joke
As is the AU game being missed....and I have seen national sports pundits put that at 3 after OU and Colorado.
Thought now I think about it, might have been worst called GAMES rather than calls

Ah, David Irons
Also, I'm gonna throw a vote out for West Virginia Pitt in 2007. Watching that game for the LSU implications, it was obvious the refs kept trying to give that game to WV, but they just wouldn't take it. At least 3 phantom holding calls against Pitt

And how was the UGA penalty in that game a blown call anyway?

Yeah with 12:57 left in the third quarter.
This call pales in comparison to the one against LSU in 1999.

Should not have been called, I guess. Not that they missed anything just threw a flag that was not necessary.

But if LSU executed better on offense that call would not have mattered.
frick that noise. There were questionable calls all through the game. Nearly every drive past the 50 yard line ended in a questionable call.
I mean frick, a gamewinning play had an open receiver in the endzone get the ball thrown to them and the defender held their arms down and the ball bounced off his chest.
Yeah, the offense should have definitely played better there

That Auburn game still majorly pisses me off. FWIW, I thought the Hester call was just as bad (and crucial). He clearly had possession of the ball, turning around after the catch and taking 2 steps, before the ball was stripped and went out of bounds. It's not like the defender's hand was in there at the beginning of the catch. We would have had a first down around the 8 or 9 yard line. People don't remember that call as much because it was early in the game. What also makes the AU-LSU game an absolute atrocity is the fact that they had video review of the Hester catch and still made the wrong damn call, and then on the PI they actually picked up the damn flag (which is obviously rare).
I try to be objective when looking at replay, but those 2 calls together do not fit into the realm of rational, objective analysis, and demonstrate a pattern now repeated with Alabama. Against Aub. and Ala. I don't even watch the replay the same way. If it's close or there is any doubt, I know it is somehow going to go against LSU.
I also agree with the poster that said putting 2009 GA-LSU in the Top 10 is absurd. We still had to drive the field, and you could argue it was excessive. It was a subjective call.
