You do realize USC had to play this game too right? The difference is they wanted it more and won.
Instead of making excuses, beat the team on your schedule. Like USC did. They didn’t need a nichols warm up to beat LSU.

I truly understand BK frustrating about not putting the game away when you can.
then maybe he should change his play calling philosophy when you have a lead, because we could have put the game away after a few stops up 17-13...but we inexplicably got away from what was working fir the first two and a half quarters....and tried to start running it right down their throat on first and second down, and became predictable. It threw everything out of whack, and especially your first time regular season starting QB who was having a hell of a game at the time.

One thing that we will need to see is Nuss performing like he can when it matters.
yet you did not make one comment about the atrocious second half play calling that completely changed from the first half, especially after we went up 17-13. Of course he tightened up, we became 100% predictable and he was put in third down obvious passing situations. When we were mixing it up and passing more, he was in rhythm. This was all on the coaches playing not to lose.

Yes, LSU made some bonehead mistakes. But, the overwhelming reason for the loss was the drastic change in play calling once up 17-13. I believe it was two equal teams, with LSU having the edge had they kept doing what they were doing the first two and a half quarters. In addition, there were some very fortunate bounces that went in favor of USC. It happens, but the coaches need to call a better offensive game when it matters.

a USC win and 10-2 would have gotten us in. Losing to USC is going to keep us out of the playoff. Season over, no. Goal of making playoff over, yes.

Too many excuses, Brian Kelly is getting paid a ton of money to get the team prepared for the season and yet he has failed 3 years in a row.

Game one against a very good team at a stadium essentially a home game with a QB who from what I saw threw perfect passes every time and looked like Tom Brady and we are quitting on this team already? Yeah we lost the first games in year 22 and 23 but still won 10 games after that and played Georgia for the SEC title the first year.

Are you out of your mind? Seriously? While a loss hurts but this is NOTHING like losing to a lower end group of 5 team AT HOME. Grow up and think before you post.

when we went ultra conservative with a 4 point lead.
I keep seeing this narrative but nobody will show the stats here. NOBODY. How about the execution didn’t match what they did in the first half? Maybe that is why Kelly was frustrated. Nuss fell into a dunk and dunk mindset and took the easy path and not the tough one.
Not a single person on here mentioned the fact that he would without 2 of his top 3 receivers when Parker went out early in the game. Those guys are starters for a reason.

I do not think this is a championship coaching staff.....
I think they are good, and the talent is there.....just do not see much more than that.
There were some decisions made during that game which were elementary, and we got it wrong.

on the flip side I’m not sure I trust sloan to make the correct adjustments offensively
We MUST run Nuss a couple times a game. I understand not wanting to get him hurt, but at some point, the defense has to at least respect the possibility that he might keep the ball instead of handing off.

this is bs. If you can't see the change in play calling once the game went 17-13 I don't know what to tell you. That, and the fact that we threw it 10 times less in the second half despite having two more possessions. Throw in at halftime that BK said he wanted to run it more in the second half, and I think you have your answer of what was going on. But, blame it on Nuss anyway I guess.

The guy said we won’t make the playoffs but he is fine with that. Apparently you are too. LSU should be a top 12 team almost every year. Get a clue.

Maybe in some spots. But I’d argue LSU doesn’t have a top 10 roster in the country right now. Maybe not even top 20. They have glaring holes in the secondary, DL and maybe even WR and RB.

Did you might think of asking yourself why there was 10 less passes? Go look at the box score on three and out. That’s where you’ll find your answer. Also look at why there was three and out. It had nothing to do with fricking running football. You have to be able to kill time when you have a defense like LSU‘s defense especially how you finished the half with letting them drive down the field with no time left on the clock.
The team has a whole relaxed and you can probably blame that on the coaches. There was no 3rd and 17 type moment. Because second year, Burrow and second year, Daniels isn’t walking through that door anytime soon.
Do you see a similarity that possibly could be a reason why NURSE didn’t finish well?
