As I said last week - it would be valuable for Milazzo to just catch Hilliard because of that breaking ball. He can have the rest of the week to keep healing up.

Would replace Pearson with Gio

Really don’t know what to do about the IF with Doughty struggling too. I guess I’d put him at 3B, Bianco at SS and Thompson at 2B

Which moves are you against? I’m trying to get our FP up to .970.

Can’t be any worse than Travinski catching

Don’t get HT at all, especially with Hilliard. At least use McManus, but preferably Milazzo. I’m just asking for 5-7 innings all weekend.

Is anyone else surprised to see Pearson leading off?

I think this is the lineup moving forward until Dugas gets healthy, which could be a while. The only change may be of Jobert struggles again tonight, you may see Travinsky DH tomorrow against the lefty. I think Jobert is 1 for his last 20 with 11 Ks. I’m really surprised at how streaky he is. You could tell the 1st week he could hit—both righties and lefties—and his swing looks like it would produce more consistency than his extreme highs and lows. We’ve got to get him going, but I’m not sure if he’d respond better to sitting for a game or 2 to kinda re-set or to just let him work through it. Hopefully he busts out tonight and makes it moot.

Pearson’s definitely the better hitter between he and Stevenson, but Stevenson has a crazy OBP because he walks so much. It will be interesting to see if there’s enough time in the season for Dugas to get fully healthy and what happens in LF if he does. Even though he’s not having near the season he did last year, he seems like one of the very few vocal leaders that the whole team rallies around. Unfortunately Bianco appears to be the other one, and he’s hurt too. Defense is the biggest problem with this team, but I think its youth and lack of vocal leaders on the field/in the lineup is an underrated “flaw,” for lack of a better word. Maybe “weakness” is better.

No. He led off against ULL. Jay spoke highly of him giving quality at bats and hitting the ball hard when down in the count, and wanting to get Tre out of there. Will he stay there? We'll see. Personally, I'd like to see Stevenson or Doughty there, each for different reasons.

Milazzo had a setback on his knee and it’s not looking too good. They were talking about it on Tuesday nights broadcast. He’s likely done for the year. It’s Travinski and McManus from here on out

Jay Johnson's thoughts on it...
quote:

“He had 41 at-bats under his belt coming into (Tuesday), and Josh is the first guy that has given us stable, quality at-bats,” Johnson said. “We could shove him up in front and a couple things are going to happen: He’s going to walk, he’s going to hit the ball hard … then your next two best hitters are Dylan Crews and Jacob Berry, so they’re sitting there after a guy has taken a quality at-bat.”

quote:

“In terms of a good leadoff hitter, I want somebody who can put fear in the pitcher right from the first pitch of the game,” Johnson said. “We led Kris Bryant off when he was a junior, just mainly so they would walk him at least once a game.

"Josh has the ability to hit the ball over the fence, hit the ball in the gap, knowledge of the strike zone. The entire objective of every leadoff hitter in every inning is to get on base.”

Jobert only struggles when the other team puts 6 guys on the right side of the field.

All of them

By putting guys that are injured at the 2 most important defensive positions on the field? Bold strategy.
