For those of you in north Texas the Midland rockhounds will be playing in Frisco versus the roughriders in August 3
Going to the RR game tonight v San Antonio, will certainly buy a ticket for this.

The only team they play is Frisco, so the North Texans will be able to see Tommy throughout the month of August. Also, did you know that the Frisco RoughRiders used to be the Shreveport Captains?

They'll be playing for about a week up in Springfield, MO at the end of August. My wife and I are planning to go, hopefully when Gage Jump starts!

As a kid me and my cousins would attend the Captain's game to collect ice cream caps, I had like hundreds of caps.

a Captains game was the best bang for the buck for fun in Shreveport, pretty decent baseball, three time TL champs in the 90s, good ball park food too, one of their last managers was Bill Russell, he had to have loved Shreveport

I’ve got a dumb question: if you are in the minors, and you’re getting sent from one level to the next 2-3 times a year, where do you live? Do you just stay in a hotel? Do the teams hold apartment leases for the people on their roster?

depends on the situation, how long do you expect to be there for one, a lot of major leaguers that get sent down to AAA for a quick rehab stint have been known to stay in the team facility, literally in the locker room

With the CBA signed in 2022, the MLB clubs provide furnished housing for their players. There are some exceptions (like people on MLB contracts), but that agreement covers over 90% of minor league players. I'd imagine MLB clubs have deals with local apartments to house their players

Back in the 90s my grandparents use to provide room and board to a few minor league players in Pennsylvania. The team asked for community volunteers for this purpose.

Wonder when Herring gets called up to Double A?

some minor league teams still use "host families"
family basically provides them with just a bedroom and bathroom.
families can feed the players as well if they choose, but it isn't usually a requirement.
