Is he more/less of an a-hole than John Brady?
More. Much more. Crean is a worldclass A-Hole.
It is pretty amusing that he is married to the Harbaugh brothers' sister. Kind of fitting.
But yeah I'd still take him.

Seems to me he's actually a pretty decent coach too.

Boom...One thing many basketball programs high tier and low tier all have in common is securing the mr basketball player in that state. Look at the years when LSU has had several of these guys on the same team they fared ok.
Look at all the Louisiana guys in college basketball that didn't go to LSU over the last 10 years. We'd have several more tourny appearances if they came here.
Its absurd.

and you have to think that in the pecking order, UW and IU jobs will intrigue potential candidates more than the LSU job

quote:What kind of recruits did that get us the last two years? Johnny already had a lock on Mays and Sims. AAU had nothing to do with that.
I'm told by some boosters that the biggest problem on the recruit end and even play end are Collis Temple and his charges. Any coach HAS to kiss Collis' ring because he controls a lot of the AAU in Louisiana

Define "get it done".
He made the Sweet 16 3 out of 6 years not on probation, and the tournament 4 out of 6 years.

i'd expect brady level success sans a final four. prob sweet 16 at best.
At this point, what self-respecting Tiger fan WOULDN'T take that!!

Cream isn't coming to bush-league program like LSU. That would like Saban going from Bama to coach Indiana football. Ain't happening.

What was Crean's record vs UK while at IU?

So he had LSU level success at IU

It's true to an extent, but not nearly what people make it out to be.
