going into 2023 there were guys constantly saying “he can’t read defenses” but you could tell he was reading defenses fine
you could literally see him make the right read and just sit on it.

quote:not sure why you’re getting downvoted. This is the correct answer but the light kept flickering on and off for the rest of that first season. His game at Florida showed what he was capable of. He looked insane that game. Felt like if he could replicate that a few times the following season he’d be a Heisman contender. And then he basically did it the entire season.
The light came on against Florida. Part of it was realizing that he had some studs at WR.

I remember vividly during the 22 season, we would be in the stands and when JD was back to pass looking indecisive, fans would scream “throw it!”
Alabama game seemed to be his coming out party. I expected him to choke at a high stakes game like that, but he did great.
It showed that the fans believed in him if he just believed in himself. It’s such a great story of how he progressed.

Kayshon not exactly helping him out when he was supposed to be the dawg probably didn't help Jayden's confidence.

Yep, Boutte dropped a TD pass that hit him right in the hands against FSU in the opener. If I recall correctly, Kayshon had 2 other drops that game as well.

I think that was around the time he starting using the virtual reality. I think that has a lot to do with his turn around as well.
