Is a degree in interdisciplinary studies much more prestigious from LSU than it would be from a community college
Yes it is.
Yes he would be better off with a degree than without a degree.
Yes he would have a much better chance to finish his degree with his scholarship than without.
Yes he would have more opportunities for meaningful employment than without.
Any other questions?

Ed could not have played another year of college ball. He probably had a lifetime dream of being in the NFL and gave it a shot.

It's my understanding that LSU honors the scholarship and allows them to return and complete their degree...

So what does one do with a degree in interdisciplinary studies that requires a degree in interdisciplinary studies?

Do we know he would have finished his degree in interdisciplinary studies anyway?
You really only answered the second, indicating that a degree in interdisciplinary studies from LSU is MUCH more impressive than one from a community college.

How much more impressive?

I didn't ask this.

I only asked if we knew he would finish, not his likelihood with or without a scholarship.

THis harkens back to the question

In other words, what particular opportunity does having that degree get him? I'm sure a degree gets you a chance to interview for certain jobs that require a degree but not a specific degree. I'm curious what those are.
Look, he would definitely be better off getting a degree but his decision to attempt to get paid before an injury sidetracked that option is clearly understandable.
The odds that he can get the same job he would have as an LSU grad by simply being "that guy who played football at LSU" in his home town is probably pretty high. Unless he's one of the higher intellect guys at which point I would expect him to go back and complete his degree.
I'm sure we both only wish him the best going forward. I do wish he had come back though I am not sure it would have helped him much.

Ed had the clock ticking on his wheels.....no fault there.
Toby needed to stay and he will regret it.
BUT, both can come back for degrees and pursue GA positions if they look to be coaches. Not a bad gig.

The NCAA only allows scholly money to either active roster players or medical hardships.
They will fund it on their own.

Ed is lazy. I had him move some boxes in high school and the little white kids did double his work. He hid in the bathroom for 30 minutes.

Most universities have academic advisors that you could contact to answer your questions.

Ed’s knees are shot he really never had a choice. Toby should have come back but he came from an extremely poor family so I can’t fault him for trying to help his family out. As far as getting their degree, Ed was a terrible student and even admitted that he hated going to class so a degree was never a priority for him anyway. Besides, most of these kids major in sports administration so there’s not many doors that degree opens for you besides coaching anyway.

You don’t know what you’re talking about. Neither do I, but I have the good sense not to opine on Alexander’s decision, which was probably made because his knees were shot, and he couldn’t play anymore,
He couldn't play anymore??? But somehow, the NFL is going to pay him if he "can't play"?
If this is true, he made a colossal mistake in not staying at LSU and getting the support and such for education.. and potential rehab and medical care.
Now where is he? No job, no degree, and no means to do anything. I hope you get someone else to advise you on life decisions.
