Maybe this is the obvious choice, but I think it's the Bama game. The performance he put on in Tuscaloosa was like nothing LSU has ever done.

I could see arguments for Florida, Texas, UGA, and Clemson, but I'm just curious to see what y'all think

Texas. That last scoring drive is when I knew this offense was legit and we could really do something.

Texas. 3&17 was the most un-LSU play ever until that point (or so it seemed) and I knew were in for a treat for real then.

True, but at that point did you already consider Burrow one of the all-time greats, or did you just know that it was gonna be a great season?

Florida - outstanding secondary, but Jeaux was lethal. He went 21-24. He roasted Henderson even though plenty of times Henderson had good coverage. Geauxt>>Good CB.

Yep. The moment that made this happen...

But the GAME that made him legendary before the Natty was the Bama game.

No one else is going to say this, but Texas A&M in 2018. That’s when we really saw the stones that burrow had. Not everyone on the rest of the team showed up that night but burrow gave a Herculean effort that really should be remembered.

In the eyes of LSU fans? UGA 2018

In the eyes of CFB? Probably Florida 2019

I asked my wife this question, because I was having a hard time pinning it down. She said that’s a no brainer, the National Championship. Kills me to agree with her but the question being Joe becoming Legendary. There’s plenty of all time great moments, but his legendary status would be the culmination of the undefeated season and the end result of him demolishing all the records. Had we not won the National Championship he would be an all time great Heisman winning quarterback just not legendary. Smart woman.

Otherwise his total performance at Bama. After that game I had little to no anxiety going through the rest of the season. LSU has always been good at stressing me out. So It was nice not to have that.

Texas game in general, not just 3 &17. I remember just before halftime getting the ball back with less than 2 minutes left in the half and driving down the field to score a quick touchdown in 3 plays and roughly 30 seconds when we already had a lead. That was something we would have never done in the past. In the past would have just took a knee and gone into the locker room with a 13-7 lead. Then of course 3 & 17 was the icing on top knowing that we finally had an offense.

3rd and 17. I knew right then and there he was gonna win the Heisman and shite on everyone along the way. After seeing our wide receivers man handle their db’s, I knew we weren’t gonna be stopped. I think everybody knew deep down.

Texas

I remember the sensation of watching Burrow drop in the pocket and throw a pass downfield. And before the camera could pan downfield to where the ball was going I knew it was a completion. Never felt that confident.

Of course watching Chase walk into the Alabama end zone on the first TD pass too. On the first Alabama drive when Tua threw that first pass and then Harris had that big run my buddy was shaking his head. I literally said to him “dude. Don’t worry. We aren’t losing this game.”

But in my mind the Bama game will always be Clydes legacy.

Fiesta Bowl. Got jacked up immediately after throwing a pick 6...and then shredded a quality UCF team, which won 25 games prior

Sounds like you're moving the goalposts
A great season at LSU makes the players legendary.

Like others, I think Texas was the moment it all coalesced. Texas was ranked in the Top 10, was coming off a Sugar Bowl win over UGA, had the "name" coach in the game, and it was a nationally televised night game for them. People forget just how big that game was at the time.

And that's the game where he became The Man. It wasn't just the numbers, or the clutch plays. It was also him waving bye-bye to the Texas fans. That's when we realized his comments about scoring 50 pts a game wasn't just a momentary lapse in diplomacy; this was a cold, cocky mofo who talked shite and then backed it up.

It was the Bama game for me and he kept hammering it home each game. Winning all those games, running out on senior night with a Burreaux jersey, winning the Heisman and a NC. Never be another like that guy.
