I'm not discounting his past struggles, only saying that if the prevailing belief is that a young QB can get better with experience, why does it only apply to one and not the other?

I'm not saying to bench JJ. He's the starter and deserves to start. I'm just looking at possibilities for offensive improvement.

Yeah...especially after he hit on that 51 yard perfect pass to Reuben Randle in the second quarter.

Easy on the perfect pass accolades. The ball was under thrown enough to where RR had to slow down, allowing the defender to catch him. Did he complete it, yes. Did I enjoy watching, definitely. Was it perfect, hardly.

Could you please show me the last time Jlee threw a perfect touchdown pass?

TIA

Just FYI, I find it pretty fricking hilarious how all the gripe about Jefferson during the offseason dealt exclusively with his sacks while ignoring his comp pct, ints, qb rating etc. But now in a game where he only had one sack yall switch to a "his 50 yard td pass wasnt perfect" argument, while still ignoring qb rating etc.

Brilliant, just brilliant.

I find it hard to understand why so many fans are willing to believe that JJ can and will improve based off of playing time and experience, but refuse to afford JL the same possibility.

Exactly. Just imagine if the situations were exactly opposite. JJ got thrown to the wolfs in 2008 and threw the pick 6's, The JLee would have had the bad Oline in 2009 and failed to grow and to move the team and finished 112 out 120 in offense and then JLee would have looked poor in the spring game, fall camp and mediocre in the first game on national tv.

If the shoes had been switched, how many would be calling for JJ to get his shot and be convinced that JLee is not advancing.

I bet there would be all kinds of accusations in that scenario.

JLee needs to play this year to see if he can move the offense. JJ leads us to a lot of 3-and-outs, and he does so consistently. Sheps 1 play heroics and the one-play drive to Randle cannnot be ignored, but in reality, LSU had no real drives last night

ignoring his comp pct

not ignoring it. accepting it for what it is. Just rewatched the game, and took the following notes

JJ was put into 23 passing situations.
4 times the passes were behind the line. (2/4 - 50%)
12 times the passes were less than 8 yards in the air (11/12 92%)
7 times the play was meant to go longer than 10 yards (1/7 - 17%).
*2 times he never got the pass off, ran instead

Thats how you have a high completion %, and not many yards. You complete 80% of your passes as quick hitters, short yardage. Really nothing to brag about. Any D1 QB could have those numbers, and 150 yards.

The thing that bothers me with lee and jefferson is that swapping between either quarterback is so risky due to the confidence in either player. If you take Jefferson out and put Lee in, you better hope Lee is worth a damn because if he isnt, and you decide to put Jefferson back in, now you have two quarterbacks whose confidence in themselves have just been shot down and now will be playing nervous, on the edge, and with each potential mistake they will have the wrath of tiger nation on their arse.

IMO, I dont know what goes on behind the scenes in the team practices, but, if Lee still is showing the potential to throw pick 6's, then its obvious he does not need to be put in the starting spot. Regardless if he has a big arm or not, throwing it up for the other team is worse than JJ taking a sack for not getting the ball out of bounds in time. I do not personally like JJ as our QB, but, I sure as hell didn't like Lee when he was giving points to the other team nonstop, even if he did put points on the board.

Here's hoping our future QB's shine after JJ departs!

"Pick Six" Lee needs to stay on the bench, IMO.

No body can argue the fact that the coaches dont trust JJ. That may be on the coaches not JJ but since the coaches arent going anywhere right now the only other change to make is the QB position.

If J Lee speeds MIles and Co's demise .......so be it.

Not sure about this. Against Troy, JJ came in for 3 series (1/6; 5 yards). Then when Lee was put back in, he was lights out

JJ and JL both have only sucked. To hope that JJ improves or JL improves is OK... to realistically expect meaningful improvement is fool hardy. I am far from a Negatiger but I do recognize that LSU will be playing with a subpar QB this year and next year.

There is actually more hope for JL because he can throw the ball better. But so far it hasn't happened. But so far it is only a hope.

My HOPE is that JL gets to play against vandy after we jump ahead and plays lights out.

I second that. They haven't seen Lee progress from his major mistakes he made that got him benched in the first place...
Evidence A: Link

that pass being picked was randles fault
