each lineman has his niche. why not touch on his excellent ability to get at the next level?

I watch them all night and there are times when they are out numbered on run blitzes or the Dline does blind stunts. You cannot stop an angled stunt that is not playing read/react......you take them where they want to go.

I see a half full glass, you do not. I have a background in oline, you likely do not.

ETA: Hurst was likely our best grader tonight.

I thought the OL looked pretty great tonight. Wondering why we didn't see Collins though, after all we heard about him so far.

No complaints here. 1 sack allowed and not many more plays for a loss. Always good in my book!

i see no need to go out of my way to praise a player who was average at best tonight.

want to talk about ODB or Lee? sure. But i didnt see much out of Shaw or Hebert to get excited about.

nobody cares you were a back up jv center. that kind of comment is reaching for authority/legitimacy when you have none... its a freakin message board.

And how much pulling were we doing with T-Bob at guard? Fact is the guy was utterly mediocre when he was doing well and had moments he just blew. He not only whiffed completely on the block mentioned but got tossed around blocking one on one numerous times.

The guy isn't horrible, but to say he played well tonight or has a niche (getting blown up or pancaking LBers), it isn't saying much. T-Bob has so many pancakes because he goes for them so much which results in him getting burned.

If you try for the big play but get burnt half the time or more, it doesn't make you good.

Agree and disagree, T-Bob is HORRIBLE when having to take the DT in front of him he gets dominated and isn't quick with his hands or have long arms to get to his defender; however, he is EXCELLENT when cutting/blocking the second level LB. Always puts a body on them or cuts them; guess that's why everyone thought he'd be a C.

Blackwell got dominated last night; however, I haven't seen that much and think he'll bounce back..Shaw did well for a second teamer, nothing spectacular, but didn't allow the D to have big plays either. Williford and Hurst are our best Run Blockers..

Would love to see a line of Faulk/Collins/PJ/Williford/Hurst..wait that will be next years line!

T-Bob completely whiffed on two plays that cost LSU dearly last night. Killed two drives for us.

2nd & Goal, we give it up the gut to the Fullback. T-Bob splits two defenders without somehow laying a finger on either of them. They promptly blew up the play. We put up a Field Goal there. Kept the game way, way closer than it should've been.

In the 2nd half, we were driving early in the 3rd, and he completely misses a block against an 18 year old True Freshman from State who blows up the play. This was after a 7 yard gain up the gut from Ford on 1st down.

We got from 2nd & a very short/manageable 3 yards to a 3rd & long situation, where they dialed up numbers on the blitz and rushed a throw, which was incomplete, & caused us again to trade a promising drive for a FG.

I'll tip my cap to Shaw & Williford, but T-Bob has got to become more consistent. Right now, his inconsistency is costing us drives and points.

I'll give Blackwell a pass for killing that one drive single-handedly. But T-Bob has done this sh!t too many times.

T-Bob played good for the most part, you're going to get beat sometimes, sh!t happens.

not even touching the guy lined up directly in front of you when you are at guard is pretty pathetic

so you all really think T Bob had a great game? he has gotten better but damn, he's no Josh D.

He's played way better than Josh Dworacyzk has in his entire career. Dworacyzk was always a soft lineman.

Go TiVo the 2nd & Goal play on the FB Dive. Watch it.

Seriously. For pure comedic value regarding the other folks in this thread. It's genius.

And even then it was Ford's fault, not the OL. The OL can only block 5 and State was bringing 6 that play IIRC. Ford whiffed on the block
