For the past two years LSU has had a roster talented enough to beat everyone but Bama.

So what, all that matters is the W's and the L's at the end of the day.

You have way too much time on your hands, please find something more constructive to do with it.

That is what the Rant has become, deception, propaganda, and the AD endorsing the illusion of exceeding expectations. When in fact it is as Lonnie4LSU describes:

quote:

It’s amusing that we even have to have a debate as to what descriptive word we should apply to our offense.

How about we just say, we gained less yds this season than we did last season and we fired that OC.

Let’s say we have the 10th best offense in the SEC and that’s after we just played a 7 OT game.

Let’s say we have an offense which couldn’t score a point against Bama in Tiger Stadium although Arkansas, maybe the worst team in the SEC was able to put up 30 against them.

Let’s say our current OC has'nt scored a point against Bama in two full games played in Tiger Stadium. To me, that qualifies as both disappointing and significantly under achieving.

Criticism of an LSU offense that’s ranked 10th in the SEC is not hate.

Concern over the fact that we took L’s at the hands of 2 first yr SEC coaches is not hate.

Being frustrated over a Bama distancing itself even more from LSU than ever before is not hate.

Noting that we are having a really good yr recruiting, but also noting at this time we rank 4th in the SEC is not hate.

None of that is being made up either.

Coach O has been responsible for 2 losses in 2016, 4 losses in 2017, and 3 more losses in 2018. I’m hard-pressed to find anything amazing about 9 LSU L’s in 5 games short of 3 years. Our last staff accounted for 11L’s in 3 full yrs and they were fired.

Ask your boy O. Evidently he sold Alleva on the value of continuity and that a rebuild wasn’t needed. The dialogue changed as soon as he got the job.

Profound statement here, and totally accurate.

Goes back to the Mike Tyson quote "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth."

You ask him. I don't know if a rebuild is in order but I know what I see. Lack of depth on the offense. Some of the losses on the offensive line occurred after O was hired. There were several olinemen that either quit or were processed. Whatever it was it left the Oline depleted and short on talent.

You can spin things all you want. The defense is the strength of the team and you're just a worthless propaganda bot.

There's a lot of people that think just like this. O will never be good enough. Short of a NC there's no way he could ever win them over. They feel cheated and it's going to take more than some 10 win seasons to make up for it.

He hasn't won 10 games once. What do you mean "seasons?"

All due respect to the man though. I can't say enough what he's meant to the program.

“compete for NC”

I didn’t say anything bout a NC, but we had a roster good enough to beat Troy.

Fair enough. So you think that LSU had the roster to compete for a NC when O took the job full time?

As Lou Holtz said: Until signing Day 'you win with Talent' after Signing Day you win with Coaching.

O inherited a loaded Roster.[/img]

Absolutely he did. The Problem is in Player Development and Scheme, Coaching, Game Planning and in-game adjustments. When O starts looking like Saban throwing his headset when the Scripted Plays don't work then we will know he has a plan. You deny all this and blame Roster & Players. Sorry, you cannot turn back the clock to Smashmouth Trench Warfare..3 yds and a cloud of dust.

Roster Strength means nothing, i.e., at LSU it does not correlate with success because of Coaching/Player Development/Scheme. Talent without a plan: 2016 Ed is going to hire the best OC, 2017 fires him, 2018 turns back to a trusted friend, SE, and raises the pay of Aranda to keep him away from Jimbo.

Aranda says he is concerned about RPO/Tempo in the UCF game. Those 2 basic components of Scheme are missing from the Offense and have defined the last 6 SEC Champions starting here: two characteristics of today’s football: Spread the field and play up tempo.

When Canada tried to introduce them, somewhat, Aranda and O&E fought it.

UCF is going to run 90+ plays and when a Defense gets tired and gassed like OU did last night vs ALA they are done. Saban is 100+ to 1 when leading by 3 TDs so he goes to his ground game, like UCF did against Memphis, and runs all over you. Same with the phony media-hyped ND which should have never been in the CFP.

Without Austin Thomas flipping 2 5 stars the 2017 Class would not have been ranked in the Top 20.

quote:

In the five seasons Thomas spent on LSU’s staff, the Tigers have finished with the nation’s No. 2 recruiting class (2014), No. 5 class (2015), No. 2 class (2016), No. 7 class and currently have the No. 13 class for the 2018 cycle with the first signing period quickly approaching.

quote:

For the 2017 recruiting cycle, 247Sports named Thomas the nation’s 10th best individual recruiter. Pretty remarkable considering he’s not even on staff at LSU as a coach. Every other member of the individual top 25 recruiters list is an assistant or head coach. That lofty ranking came after Thomas led the charge in LSU landing two five-star prospects from Tennessee — defensive back JaCoby Steven and linebacker Jacob Phillips. In an unusual move, LSU took defensive line coach Pete Jenkins off the road this time last year and replaced him with Thomas. The move obviously paid off for the Tigers with two crucial signatures. How did LSU land the two prospects everyone in the nation wanted, including flipping Phillips’ Oklahoma commitment at the final hour? “All Austin,” Orgeron said to James Bewers of The Advocate. “He got Jacob Phillips. I knew (Austin) was going to be good, but those results are phenomenal. I didn’t know we were going to get those results. “Very rare to get two five-star recruits to come to LSU your first go around (at off-campus recruiting).” His aspirations apparently don’t stop at the college game, either. According to those who know him best in the profession, Thomas will one day be running an NFL franchise. “Austin I believe one day will be an NFL General Manager,” Orgeron said to Barton Simmons of 247Sports. “He’s very talented. He’s the general manager. I trust him in all aspects. He can have the keys to the car. I trust him in everything that he does.”

Decent analysis but it attempts to look at ToP in a vacuum. A defense doesn’t exist in a vacuum, it exists with constant interplay between the offense. This analysis leaves out other important factors like average start of field position. Average time of drives (offensive and defensive) is much more important than total ToP.

Highly doubtful.

He may be in a padded room in a psych ward though.
