What are we looking at for our main middle relief guys?
Cotton, Bonvillain and whoever loses the Sunday starter battle?

Probably. Rumbelow, Broussard, & Cotton were as about as good as you're ever going to get in middle relief last season, and Berry wasn't too bad either.
Rumbelow might get moved to closer with Berry. Broussard will likely fight for a starting spot with McCune. (Both of those guys had to deal with seeing their IP being cut almost in half last season from what it was in 2011, so it'll be interesting to see how they react in 2013.)
As for the new guys. People have been saying LaMarche, the JC transfer, might be good in relief. Then there's Fury who sat out last year. The other pitchers coming straight from HS are: Butler, Sewald, Reynolds, Newman, & Devall.
By the way, my apologies for leaving Butler off in my other thread earlier. I must have just skipped a line from the online roster accidentally. I don't really follow baseball recruiting at all, and so I don't keep up with LSU players very much until the season actually begins. I know nothing except what I see posted here about LSU players who have yet to play in games.

I'd say things look very good this year if the team can simply find a way to pitch well without Gausman, while also finding an infield arrangement that clicks defensively.
That's a tall order to pitch well without Gausman. I happened to see Louis Coleman recently and it just reminded me of how cool it was to trot out him and Ranaudo on successive days. That's what it takes. With Gausman gone I don't even see one guy like that. I agree with you that the hitting should be okay this year; I think the defense could be good as well; so, as usual, it comes down to pitching. And we need some surprises to happen if we're going to challenge this year.

I disagree with you here.
If Eades, Nola, Broussard, Berry, Cotton, & Rumbelow, are merely as good as they were last season, and McCune can somehow be as good as he was in 2011, then that alone would make for a pitching staff good enough to get to Omaha.
Plus, we've got 6 new pitchers (not including Fury), so just one of them having a great year would just be par for the course under Adam Dunn.
And even if the 3 weekend starters end up being slightly worse this season than last year, the hitting and run production will almost certainly improve by a very wide margin.
It's baseball, so things can always fall apart unexpectedly, but a second consecutive SEC title this spring would not surprise me in the least.

Joe Broussard had tommy john surgery in the fall and will be out for the 2013 season

Well there you go.
I really don't follow offseason developments at all. That's what these threads are for.
Regarding this Michael Barash recruit, when is his first practice going to be?

Does LaMarche have a shot at the Sunday spot or is it solely looking like it will be Bourgeois vs McCune early on?
Posted on 1/6/13 at 8:42 am to Ryan3232
You can throw Joey Bourgeois in the mix he had a solid year in relief last year

I have no idea. I think somebody mentioned that they thought he would be good in a relief role, but I am the last person you want to ask about evaluating players before they've played games for LSU.

I would love if Cody Glenn would take a big step this year just so we could get a lefty in the rotation. That's a long-longshot though.
We would be very tough on the weekend with a Nola/LHP/Eades rotation.

That was a nice shot at the end of the game.
There are you happy now?

bumping this solely for the reason that there is better discussion in this thread compared to all the other new threads on the rant combined.

Random prediction... Eades will have a HUGE breakout year ERA in the mid to low 2's and solidify himself as the go to guy on the bump.
