Ward is one of the top players, but he HAS to learn to play smarter. Teach him how to close out on a shooter. Instead of closing straight at him, close to the side so you don’t hit him. Don’t foul to allow free throws late in games you’re leading. Know who the shooters are and don’t leave them wide open. Know who the drivers are and force them to shoot over you. Make teams play to their weaknesses. A lot of that situational stuff is what coaches should be reminding players about, but it should be covered in practice. I wonder if Coach McMahon has ineffective and inefficient practices?

It's early, but of the players that are getting sig mins, Ward rates out as the worst defender on the team. Reed also rates out badly, so what is MM teaching in practice regarding defense? Or are these two just not interested in playing D?

If you can’t see how good ward is you’re just blind. Yeah he fricked up at the end of the game but we need him to play if we want to have a chance at winning games
