Even though the Tigers gave up a couple of sacks and Miami had tackles for losses, overall the OL play exceeded my expectations. I did not expect for us to rush for over 150 yards against a very solid Miami defense. Bottom line is that Miami defense upfront is very talented. They were times where the RB would not get touched until the second level and that is very encouraging. The TD run he went untouched. Even after the injury to Magee, Traore came in and did well. I have to give lots of credit to Coach Cregg for taking this group and making them better. I really believe the OL will progress each and every week and will become one solid unit before SEC play. Practicing against a great DL like LSU has will only make these guys much better.

Manny Diaz is known to blitz a lot and I thought the oline held up fine for the first game they all played together and that Miami D was fast and disruptive all game.

They can work on things against SLU and Auburn will be just as challenging as Miami on the defensive front.

Not sure what game you watched but Miami lived in the LSU backfield. O-line play is the area of most concern going forward. They HAVE to get better, and I believe they will...but Auburn, Georgia, Miss St and Bama ALL have better D-lines than Miami. Buckle up.

One of the most impressive things I found was Miami knew we were running clock and the OL was still able to pick up key first downs. It is always great to get a win against a team like Miami and still have many many things to work on. Good things to come from this unit.To me, it was the biggest question mark coming into the season.

The awesome win is putting a bit of shine on a very rough OL performance.

That coupled with low expectations have been saying some just crazy shite.

2 sacks. burrow was running for his life most of the game.

150 yards on 42 carries.

Averted under 4 yards a carry and it was even worse outside of 1 play for 50 yards.

Under 300 yards total offense.

It was fricking rough.

Cregg and the boys need to get it together and FAST.

The offensive line must get it together, especially the guard play. They made Willis look like a first rounder

Damn, man. I'm as excited about the win as anyone, but I dont think OL play is what should be highlighted. It's clearly our most glaring weakness and something that desperately needs to improve before we head into the hornet's nest in Auburn. A performance like that against Auburn in Jordan-Hare will not cut it.

I said Rough not hopeless.

I am still optimistic because it looked like a lot of mental errors.

It’s easier to learn your assignment than to learn to be talented enough to play D1

Miami lived in our backfield in the second half when they knew we were going to run every first and second down. It's like some of you have never watched football before. Miami was slanting and run blitzing every play in the second half.

That is correct. The tackles for losses in the second half mostly were attributed to the fact Miami was blitzing knowing we were running the ball.

I dont think the OL is ready yet, they need to be better vs Auburn, but it is worth noting that Miami had 10 plays behind the line (2 sacks and 8 TFL) and only got a combined 19 yards out of them.

this is a very good defense, and the OL, for the most part, was at least standing them up, no one was getting walked back into the RB, they didnt have any completely busted assignments.

its a start.

Kevin Steele's defense against LSU has been very effective and Auburn has a really strong DL.

Ensminger called several plays to move the pocket because our OL couldn't protect him. I don't think we have a strong unit and we're going to see some nasty DLs coming up with Auburn and Miss State.

That might be because Willis could go first round.

Yes, I'm sure many realize we were protecting a lead. Some people just knee jerk and complain w/o any real assessment of the situation.

But there are some who recognize that fact and realize that O is in must win territory, and protecting leads with safe handoffs is nothing new. Won't help this QB or this team one bit the rest of the year, when we don't have 16-27 pt leads.

Twice in this game we had perfect opportunities to work on plays that will be difference makers versus our stiffer competition coming up, but instead chose to vanilla into the LOS for no gain and punt.

We had a 9 yd run and even an 8 yd pass on first downs, setting up 2nd and short with perfect field position near midfield. Play action/bootleg there would have been a great opportunity to take a one one shot downfield or let Burrow pick up yardage with his feet. What that does more than anything is stop all gaps getting shot on short yardage, and worse case scenario, you throw incomplete and still have 3rd and short.

We failed to take advantage of that situation both times it presented itself in the game. We got stuffed on 2nd and 3rd and punted.

I can help but get frustrated when I know there's only so many times you get these opportunities in live action big games, and when those moments come in our upcoming season changing matchups, we won't have that experience running those plays in a tightly contested game, when we could have had it during comfortable leads.

I do not think we will run the ball as well on Auburn, so we will definitely have to pass to set up the run. I do not think they will be near as effective in pass rush. Miami threw some pretty exotic blitzes at us in game 1 that should help prepare us for upcoming games. I also think Miami is a little faster at DE than Auburn, but overall Auburn has a stronger D-line with more depth.

The offensive line was absolutely terrible vs. Miami. When they put the camera on Orgeron, you could see him screaming "Let's go!!!" several times. That was 100% directed at the offensive line getting whipped at the time. They have to step it up to protect Burrow and let the young RBs and WRs get comfortable.
