I like the way he catches like a receiver. That kid is going to make some money this year.

The boot forces the QB to have his back to the defense for a few seconds before turning, making a quick (correct) read, then making a good throw to an open receiver. The lack of this play (which has been maligned by many, myself included) harkens back to the lack of trust in the QB caused by the removal of RP and the poor play of JJ/JLee, more than the ineptitude of the coaching staff.

Both you and the OP seem to claim that this play he described (play action one way with a half boot/waggle action the opposite way) is a play that we haven't had in the past and haven't run. This just isn't correct. Now I will agree that we haven't run it particularly well, and maybe not as often as we should have, but to pretend that our previous OC's never ran that play simply means you haven't been paying close enough attention.

For one example, you only have to go back to the 2nd to last play our offense ran this season. On 2nd and 3 against Clemson, with the Clemson D expecting a running play to run some clock, supposedly Mett audibled to a waggle play Landry popped wide open, and Mett promptly overthrew him!

We also ran this play quite a bit with JJ, not so much with JL though, they didn't like him much throwing on the move.
