It's very reasonable and well thought out.

Was I this dumb when I was in college? I mean, I'm all of 32 and I'm amazed at how dumb some of you are. I partied my arse off at LSU and was screaming my lungs out at every game. But I don't ever remember not giving a flying Fu@k about any other fans in the stadium. Is it possible that I was that drunk that I just didn't realize I was such an inconsiderate prick back then?

Its just funny how some just don't get the point. Nobody is saying that you should never stand. The policy basically says standing is ENCOURAGED doing important times of the game.

Policy is to discourage people from standing during slow times of the game.

don't tell me to blow you when i know for a fact that i come home hoarse every game because of how much i yelled and much of it is from the seated position.

standers leave games early whereas i do not. so your precious standing is only good for part of the game. once again, the standers are no better than anyone else.

Let's put the blame where it belongs. It's all the fault of the first row. When they stand up everyone behind them has to stand. So they should revoke all seat tickets on all the front rows. Then they should reissue these tickets for anyone under four feet tall. Now when they stand up it won't affect anyone else.
Also, for all you constant standers, what would you do if a big burly guy had the seat in front of you and he decided to stand up with his 5 year old up on his shoulders so he could see better. Would you complain. Just asking.

havent you seen these guys that love to stand will hit old people, cuss loudly with young children around because they must sit, accuse folks that sit to be elitists (as if knee and hip joints qualify you as a socialite). They are some bad sonuvabitches.

Hell if my voice did not work in the seated position I would be pissed too.

Wait a minute I am upper west and I stand as much as possible. I have had my share of people that got their one game ticket and felt like they owned that section or were ther for a date like they were @ the freakin movies. Why can't us who like to support our team get a rule for the Jack arse sitting behind you that thinks your seat is a foot rest for them to stretch out on everytime you stand. If they would stand up and be counted you probably woul not feel as cramped and have to IMPOSE on my enjoyment. The way I see it most of us feel as though we are a part of the team and will do anything we can to support them start to finish.

I'm all for standing and cheering, but standing for no reason the entire game is just obnoxious. When you're blocking someone's view, you're not being supportive, you're just being a total jackass. The chairs/bleachers are there for a reason. Just sit when everyone else sits and stand when everyone else stands.

+1, I hate when I have to stand the whole time because of the people in front of me. I'll do it, but it sucks. What they don't realize is how inconsiderate it is. When I have to stand so do the people behind me and so on and so on. I like standing for big plays and all that, I just hate when guys do it the whole time.

That doesn't make any sense. I'd be fine with it. Just look around him somehow. He's got a ticket just like anyone else. I sure as shite wouldn't be a pussy and snitch on him by getting a marshal.

I remember when I used to go to games with my father when I was about 7 or 8, and it was sometimes difficult to see the field. Did I complain? No, the idea never even occurred to me. Why would I? The games were better with people standing, even when they got in my way. If I could understand this as a 7-year-old, I don't know why it's so hard for some people to understand now.

And look, a lot of the people arguing back and forth on this thread really believe basically the same thing: that people should use common sense and stand before the ball is snapped on maybe 20 or 25 plays per game, but shouldn't just stand up the whole game if they're in front of old people. That's exactly what I do.

And 4 out of 5 times, when the old people behind me constantly tell me to sit down--even though it's 3rd and 4--I try my best to crouch into a half-standing, half-sitting position to be able to be just tall enough to see over the row in front of me. But 1 out of every 5 times, I just have enough, and I look back and just say one simple word: "No." I should be able to do that. It's not too much to ask.

I think most people arguing in favor for the policy actually agree with me on that, but what they are just blind to the actual wording of the statement. "Spontaneous reaction" to exciting plays is not the same thing as standing to attention on 3rd and 4th downs when your team needs it. This new policy, whether it intends to mean this or not, LEAVES THIS COMPLETELY UNMENTIONED among the legitimate reasons to stand.

As a long, long-time ticketholder, I find that alarming, not only for what it says about restrictions on how I watch the game, but on how it restricts all the other LSU fans like me in the entire stadium. I think it will erode the very legacy and reputation that TAF and the LSU Athletic Department are milking right now. I think they are being short-sighted and starting to strangle the goose that lays the golden eggs. I don't like it.

I know that it personally gets under my skin when other fans from rival schools around the country talk smack about how Tiger Stadium's atmosphere is overrated, and how it's really nothing special. SlowFlowPro talks all the time about how Tiger Stadium isn't as loud as it used to be. Maybe he's right. I know the stadium was definitely louder in '88 and '97 than it has been in recent years. I think 90% of the fans on this board completely fail to understand what the football game means from a historical perspective, and they have no idea why it's important to society as a whole. I guarantee you that most of these same people would get just as much entertainment watching soccer or basketball. Not me. Football really is different. LSU really is different.

P.S. -- It is physically impossible to cheer as loud sitting down as it is standing up.

I'm short and old (two strikes against me) but when I standup and still can't see over the young guys in front of me I look up a the big screen and watch the play.

I generaly agree with this new policy for the reasons youj state, but in the south end zone those seats arfe ridiculous. I consider it welcome relief when people stand as I can actually breath

I think its funny that they actually have a "rule" on standing...

They literally had to spell out common sense for people.

Common Sense would dictate that you don't have to stand on offense, unless there's a big play, or a touchdown or something...

Common Sense would also dictate that while on defense, you should be standing.

If you are old and crippled, i'm sorry. I really am. But you CANNOT expect people NOT to stand while LSU is on Defense in a football game in TIGER FREAKING STADIUM. If you don't like standing, maybe TS isn't the place for you and you could reconsider your season tickets for a more appropriate seat:

that'll never stick in the student section. matter of fact it's expected and rude if you don't stand while in the student section.

my thoughts exactly.... I also don't understand how a season ticket holder doesn't know the people who sit around them and know if/when there could be a problem. I "stand" in the NE EZ and everyone around me are good friends, to where we are a family and they would never ask me to sit down, etc. We all support LSU 1000%... I could do backflips, cartwheels, etc. (if I could do them) and nobody would flinch except to laugh.

I imagaine I couldn't do this on the sidelines and thus see a problem with this stupid aristocratic "rule".... moreover, I would not want to sit on the sidelnies anyway.

I totally agree with this. Not only are we now discouraged from standing throughout the game, but they are also taking sections away from the student section and selling it to the whole public(the band has been was moved to the North Endzone and their old spot will not be a part of the student section but yet the band's new spot takes away from the student section)
