Any insight on what they're planning on doing with the giant white wall (if anything)?

So called Great White Wall is actually Light Grey and appears to be Ceramic Tile.

Nothing for now

Doesn't LSU have some of the most chairback seating in college football?
Yup, I made a thread about it...
quote:
In fact, just over 34% of Tiger Stadium's projected 2014 capacity will be chairbacked seating of all types.
10, 20, 30, More...What percent of your football stadium's seats are chairbacks?
I think we're well ahead of Arkansas's RR Stadium, which is well ahead of everyone else in the SEC. Tiger Stadium just added 66 suites and 3,000 club seating this year with the SEZ addition. Which means we now have the second-most suites in the conference with 136 after Alabama's 157 in BDS. But since LSU suites are generally larger, Tiger Stadium has the highest total suite capacity.
As far as all types of premium seating combined, Tiger Stadium still trails Arkansas's RRS in terms of seating labeled "premium". RRS has about 8,900 premium seating of all types, compared to around 7,700+ at Tiger Stadium. RRS has 132 suites, but is scheduled to be expanded, mostly by adding additional suites and club seating in their open north end zone...
So Arkansas will surpass LSU with the second-most suites...and may surpass BDS as well...and add to their highest amount of premium seating overall. After Arky's RRS and LSU's BDS, it's a steep drop in terms of premium seating at other stadiums. UA's BDS has about 3,000 total club seats, UT's Neyland about 2,000.
If LSU ever counted the around 22,000 chair back seats in the original stands as "premium" seating, we'd absolutely blow everyone away in the SEC in terms of premium seating...

Its stucco.

They painted the rest of the stadiums concrete a grey color that looks like concrete. I'm sure they have some of that paint left.
Will it just get darker over time with weathering? Are those pill boxes on top going to be white/light grey as well? Looks like one or two of them already are.

Or we could drape some badass banners over it and switch em out every so often.

The stucco will not get darker with time. It will just look worse as time goes on with black dark streaks throughout because of weathering.
Several of the stucco bldgs on campus look the same way. LSU can't afford to pressure wash those bldgs and it looks bad. Water from the roof runs down forming black streaks, algae growth, etc...
We all hoped and prayed LSU would use the same paint as the NEZ, but not the case
The end "pill boxes" were done in stucco and the interior ones are not. They are finished with that, nothing more is being done.

Anyone know what's behind the White Wall besides elevators? Seems like I heard somewhere that TAF was moving their offices into the structure.

If this is real this is the biggest casty of all of the expansion

Anyone have an idea of what the new locker rooms will look like finished? Probably germans, but can't find pics.

been wondering that myself

The mixture of stucco and bare concrete on the new expansion is awful. Why not all bare concrete or all stucco like the renderings looked like?
Holy shite just saw pictures of A&M expansion. LSU should feel thoroughly embarrassed. A&M did an amazing job.

I felt the same way. They did it completely right.. that's the most beautiful, and amazing renovation I've ever seen.. even Kyle Field is going to be top notch.

Comparing the two projects really isn't fair. They're spending half a billion dollars to essentially rebuild their stadium. We're spending $80 million on an expansion.
Regardless, I just don't understand the thinking that went into designing that bare wall. Seems extremely short sighted, and that's my biggest issue with the expansion.

Understood, but their next project should be making the exterior look like a world class stadium, not a mish mash of lego sets
