Being a Marine on active duty 8 years you get things hammered into you and one of our core values is commitment. I was at the troy game last year and I couldn't believe how empty the stadium was while we were still fighting for the win. Tiger fans demand players play 4 quarters but they don't stay and cheer 4 quarters? If that stadium were packed like it was for Auburn, Troy would have fell apart with the "12th" man energy there, just as Auburn did. The players feed off of the fans energy... we gotta be nasty and boo opponents and stay til the end for our tigers.

Commitment is also doing what you ask of others. Do you go to every game? I’m not being an arse but this topic always comes up and I wonder if the posters are staying til the end of every home game.
I go to every game and I stay to the end and I can tell you no amount of posting or bringing attention to the problem will keep people in the stadium til the end. Late 3rd, people are going to leave unless it’s a nail biter with a ranked opponent.

If you're not in the student section, there's usually at least one guy in each section who thinks he owns the place and tries to police the other fans if we/they get too loud, curse or God-forbid bring alcohol into the stadium.

ETA: Or stand for that matter.

Semper Fidelis brother! I served for 13 years. I’m with you on this. I was at the game too and people won’t support games against Troy as much as they’ll support a game against Auburn.

Us normal civilians are so weak willed. We can’t mentality withstand 4 quarters of Troy whipping our arse.

I don't care if you're a marine or not. Don't preach about how bad LSU fans are then throw in a Texas A&M reference.

Thank you for your service, which I would respectfully suggest is not really comparable. It's just a game. It's actually just people watching a game. There are no stakes relative to the reasons for a Marine's level of commitment.

Let’s be honest, OP just wanted to tell everyone he was in the marines.

Well they only let certain people in the Marines and you have some level of indoctrination to instill that commitment. Whereas anyone with enough money is let in Tiger Stadium.
Thank you for your service!

I remember last year I stood up when we scored against A&M and the guy behind me got pissed. So in my jackass way I pointed to him and told my brother loudly that we are leaving when the game gets out of hand. I know I’m not stationed far from BR but it’s little things like that are ruining the stadium experience. I can perfectly watch the game at home with no dipshit lazy frick behind me.

This is true. Usually some old curmudgeonly bastard who leaves during the third quarter every game to beat traffic.
