As I celebrated LSU's victory last night with over 100K of my closest friends, I couldn't help but think of Sid Ortis last night.
I don't have an update to share at this time, but I'd like to think that Sid is smiling knowing that our Tigers and non-traditional head coach, Les Miles had Sid on his mind when he and his his team so eloquently executed the call and play of the fake field goal to win the game for LSU.
It's almost "as if" Miles was thinking this one is for Sid and he and his team ran the play to perfection. So Sid, I hope you have that "peaceful easy feeling" now and know that many Tigers fans are thinking and praying for you and your family.

I read that Sid departed the hospital on Sunday and left his "angels" behind. He will now go rest comfortably at his home surrounded by his family and friends.
Please pray for Sid to be at "peace" and for his family and friends to find comfort in knowing that they got to enjoy his shining presence while here on this earth.
And fcuk cancer!

The Tigers need to devote each remaining game to this special young man. Here's to hoping he's well enough to attend the Bama game.

A lot of attention has been given, although none of it sought out by him, but to Les Miles in this situation. And it's warranted. He's an actual caring human being who knows that life is about way more than football. Even more than SEC football, even more than LSU FOOTBALL. Coach Miles is a great man, IMO.
But you know what's even cooler? Sid...what a great Tiger fan! I mean, this kid has been and is continuing to go through so much hurt and pain and suffering at such a young age, but his goal is to live long enough to see LSU beat Alabama. LSU is lucky to have a coach like Les Miles to represent this university with class and humility and respect, but even luckier to have a GREAT TIGER FAN in Sid.
Prayers for him as he continues his battle...may he be comfortable and enjoy the rest of his time on this earth.

From your link....

According to the report, Miles also told Ortis "when you get to Heaven, save a spot for me."
Ortis' parents are hopeful their son will live a bit longer to see LSU play at Alabama on Nov. 7. They said if their son is up for it, they'd love for him to attend the game.
Miles pledged to help make it happen.

Agree 100%. I may be critical of his vocabulary and some of his coaching decisions, but not Les the man.

I lost my Grandfather to cancer, and my Grandmother has survived breast cancer 3 times. I love that this kid is fighting so hard, this is bigger than football, this is someone's child that they will lose and it's only a cruel waiting game. I hope this kid lives to see LSU play Alabama on the 7th, make it his last wish to see his Tigers win. Even if we lose I hope the team gives him the game ball and makes him feel like he is part of the team. It's a beautiful story but we live in a terrible and cruel world. I've said it many times before, I'm only 20 years old but no parent should ever have to bury their children.
When Sid passes away he will be coming home. I hope people don't mourn his death but celebrate the great, yet short life he lived. Sid won't suffer anymore, he will be walking beside God forever in a place were the evils of this word can't penetrate. When one of God's children comes home it's not a time to mourn until you can't mourn anymore, you must be glad for him, all of his worries and pain gone. Of course he will be Cheering his tigers to victory!
May God be with his Family and Friends when they lose this beautiful child of God. I pray that they are full of comfort and peace.
"Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light."
FIGHT TILL YOUR LAST BREATHE AND MAKE SURE CANCER REMEMBERS YOUR NAME KID! KICK ITS arse!!!!
GEAUX TIGERS!

Miles told him to save him a spot. I saw the other links mentioning the same thing. Thought that was really sweet of him.
