everyone i was around was pretty quite and just kind of shocked at how close the game was.
If you could pull up some threads of about a year ago it would be some awesome reading. There was no way in hell to convince some fans that UNC could hang with LSU.

One of the most surreal experiences I've ever felt at a game. No one could believe we ended up being 5 yards away from losing.

I was talking with a UNC fan as we walked out and he made the observation that if a person was standing outside the Georgia Dome watching both fanbases leave, he would never be able to tell who won.

....Well, that really shows the difference in the two football programs.
LSU is an elite championship football program. Winning is important. But, execution on the field is more important than results. As LSU fans, we know that in order for there to be championships, there must be execution on the field.
So, LSU fans did leave the Georgia Dome disheartened.
On the other hand, UNC fans are happy with a pretty loss.
Now, you see why LSU has 2 crystals and UNC waits for basketball season.

Really? Did you even go to the game? Who said that and how can 2 or 3 people make up a whole fanbase?
it was a great deal more than two or three people and I had more verbal confrontations with our "fanbase" over stupid remarks like that then I did with UNC fans.
It was embarrassing to hear LSU talk like that after a WIN.

Yeah, I don't think that's what happened at all. I wasn't excited about the end of the game but I didn't appoligize to anyone.
Also, as far as UNC fans go, we meet some slap dicks and some really cool fans. It's just like anywhere else you go, take the good with the bad.

I was there also. I personally was trying to figure out how we blew the lead we had. I think part of it was that we under-estimated UNC because of the number of players they had out and we got comfortable with the lead. We were complacent.

Hit that on nail on the head!

In looking at a few of the negative experience some had with the UNC fans, I gotta share my experience to balance it out....
I had called ahead of time and asked if my 1 1/2 year old needed a ticket and was told no. I got to the entrance and was told my little one needed a ticket to get in. I tried explaining that he couldn't sit by himself and I had already verified this with the ticket office, but was told we weren't gettign and was pulled aside to talk with a supervisor.
As I am explaining this to her, a UNC fan from inside the building walked up and asked if we need an extra ticket. It just so happened to be in the Club level where we were, so it worked out perfect. He refused any money or anything for it and just told us good luck in the game. I know the ticket was worth $200 easy and would have gladly paid him for it. I keep the ticket in my wallet to remind me not to be a total a-hole to visitng fans!!!

I didn't apologize after Tennessee, I DEFINITELY didn't apologize after UNC.

Remember that black dude outside the bus telling us "MY DICK IS THIS BIG"

I wouldn't say we were "sorry" that we won, but I would say there was a general air of dissatisfaction. It was a very subdued post-game atmosphere, in my opinion.
This. I was there and it was the most down played post game celebration amongst fans......until.........the Tennessee win.

Road fans for LSU are the worst when it comes to excitement or having rowdy fun. I have been to plenty of bowl games and I was also at UNC game. In no way were LSU fans louder or more rowdy than Penn St, UNC, tOSU, or aTm on neutral fields. I will say we were louder than theU & ND fans. Fat cats have made those events more of a social fling than anything. So those of you who are under the impression that this is a "home" game for LSU are sadly mistaken and that although we may have a larger number of fans present you can not tell the difference on the field.
as far as what the OP stated, I witnessed it 1st hand.

Meh, better than the poor fans who never went to LSU giving us a bad name because they don't know how to act in public.

There are no similarities whatsoever to this year's opening game of the season and last year. In fact the only ones I can come up with are it's a football game, it's the first game of the year, it's on the road, and LSU is playing in it.
That's about it.
That's about it.
