After hitting 17 of 18 WR's in the hands, how many more does he need to hit to become comfortable? At what point did he not look confident and comfortable?

This is it to me. Whos to say he's not already comfortable. I like what he is doing once the drops stop and I think that was just a bad night for obj we'll be fine with the passing game.

Hell my biggest complaint is they left the starters in to long.

"Throw the Damn Ball" - Matt Hayes

cute article....but Matt Hayes just doesn't get it. did you hear Les shut up Holly Rowe at halftime. "it's all a part of the plan"....Hayes is spewing the same no nothing bullshite that rantards were after the UNT game. get jiggy with this fact, Les Miles and staff plan for more than one game at a time. they do their utmost to nuture and tutor their kids so they grow at an even pace. we now possess a qb with the skill sets, mentality and attitude that we have not seen since JR/MF and the staff is not going to rush his developement like they had to with JL/JJ. we are in a very good place right now...and it is because we have a staff that not only believes in it's plan, but sticks to it.

Mett is better than i was hoping he would be. This is the best stable of running backs/QB that LSU has ever had in my lifetime.

When I was a student we were excited to just beat Miss State. I would have never imagined LSU being this loaded

keeping the passes to a minimum. I understand that we can run at will on opponents.

See, I don't understand this. If you can run at will, what advantage does passing give other than "beauty contest" points?

I sorta get the idea of letting Mett 'work on' the passing game, but he looked pretty competent to me. And it's after everyone complained about not letting him work last week, only throwing lateral passes for the most part.

But those WR screens last week sure as hell opened up some nice slants today. Corners were biting like crazy.

Almost enough to make you think our coaching staff knows something about the game of football.

i don’t get it either. You have a chance to put Rivers in and give him some experience. You’re only one play away from having him as your leader, yet he comes in and hands off the ball when he could be getting real-time passing experience? Is it any wonder the stadium starts to empty in the 3rd quarter?

He threw 18 times against a team that never threatened us. In a close game and as the season progresses he will throw at least 25 times if not more. Can't wait to see him throw on South Carolina, Florida , Miss St, and Bama.

We don't need to throw the ball 30 - 40 times a game.
19-21 times is ideal.

Here's the most important part of the article, exactly what I've been trying to explain to people since the beginning of last year:

And that’s the problem. Mettenberger, in his second career start, isn’t helping LSU become all it can be by handing off. We all know where this season begins and ends for LSU: Nov. 3 in this very stadium against defending national champion Alabama.

Everything LSU does from here until then should be done with the pointed intention of becoming more multiple in the face of the Alabama defense. That, or crossing the 50 earlier than midway through the fourth quarter.

But you have all the people that want us to practice our 4 running plays 60 times a game instead. Just a little hint but uh Alabama is gonna stuff our running game. 2 down, 6 more chances to get yourself ready......

What does it take to get it through your thick fricking skulls that this team is an ELITE running team.

I don't understand that urgency to take the ball out of the RB's hands.

alabama does throw the ball. They burned us both games especially the NC game with a potent passing attack

Wrong about Nov; right on about the NCG. But they did it by establishing a season-long reputation as a run-first team that only throws against teams that over commit to the run...just like us (this year).

Article is dead-on...

Les is so damned stubborn that it will never come to pass, pardon the pun.

Let Mett do what he does best...

Stubborn to run the ball for 200+ every game?

Yes, very stubborn.
