A very positive article overall, suggests letting Mett go hog wild with his arm to round out the skill set of an otherwise indominitable team.

We just aren't going to see him throw it 30+ time this year. We are too good defensively and in the running game for Les to rely on a passing game much. We might see him air it 30 times or so against Alabama and USCe but that's about it. We're probably going to beat everyone else like a drum.

It's coming. They're giving him more and more every week. First game was getting his feet wet, tonight he was about knee deep. He's almost ready to swim.

Les sent the message to the passing game at halftime. You no catch, we no throw...

so the point is we have a supertalent gunslinger who is one of the baddest weapons in CF.

Well we also have the deepest, most talented stable of tailback in CFB so you could make the exact opposite argument very easily.

We muthafvckin loaded

That's the thing. We didn't have to rely on it tonight. We just needed to polish it. It would have simply been practice for the game that we do need it.

I too think its coming, but tonight would have been a good time to work out some growing pains.

But I am one happy tiger fan tonight!

We didn't need to throw the ball....Let them 4 horses grind it out....then when the defense creeps up to the line air it out....He will most definitely have to pass against Bama, Florida, Texas A&M and Arkansas. But for now,,,,run it down there throat. This is SEC football not arky or mizzou football.....

The day Mettenberger becomes option No.1 in the LSU offense, is the day LSU becomes the best team in college football. Because once that happens, once teams must respect the Tigers’ ability to stretch the field with the passing game, the offense becomes multiple and no one—not even the Alabama defense—can do anything about it.

That day won't happen. But, Mett did way more this week than last week. We can still do whatever we want. Those 12 runs on the 13 play drive was to just end the game. There was no point throwing.

Mett has confidence and is leading this team. He improved dramatically from last week. He will keep improving. We will be fine.

We don't need to throw the ball 30 - 40 times a game.

Why would you ever throw it, if you can run it?

After watching a few of these teams play this year, I would venture to say we REALLY only HAVE to throw it against one of those teams.

Because one day you won't be able to run it and you will have to throw it. It's called preparing.

LSU used the pass to set up the run in the first half and used the run to set up the pass in the second half.

LSU wants to run an efficient balanced offense. Mett isn't going to air it out unless someone can effectively shut down our run game. As long as we have the THREAT of a vertical passing game our running game is going to produce. Last year we had to run with 8 men in the box, this year we're not going to have that problem.

God I hope so. We might even get to see The Secret Playbook at this rate!

Miles is painfully conservative. He wants to do just enough to keep the offense moving, throw only when it's necessary and sit down on a comfortable lead.

That's my beef with Miles. He's still babying the offense and keeping the passes to a minimum. I understand that we can run at will on opponents. But at the ratio we're running, you'd think we still have Jordan Jefferson at QB.

Look at it like this..the first game was all short stuff. This was mostly intermediate stuff...

Idaho might as well just play Prevent next week.

Passing highlights are neede to win the ESPN beauty pageant. It's unfortunate, but it's part of the game.
