LSU should never overpay for anyone who doesn't coach football or men's basketball. Everything else is a niche distraction for internet zealots and bored Baton Rouge natives.

Division 1 baseball recruiting calendar
Contact Period: College coaches may have in-person contact with student-athletes and their parents on or off campus. Coaches may also visit their high school or watch them compete. Campus visits by the recruit and their parents are also allowed. Coaches may write and phone during this period:
Aug. 1, 2018 – Aug. 26, 2018
Sept. 14, 2018 – Nov. 11, 2018
March 1, 2019 – July 31, 2019

College baseball needs to change signing day from beginning of recruits sr. year until after the MLB draft. LSU has been hit hard with HS players that don't make it to campus. You can't sing the very best players, you need to draft good players but not potential high draft picks. From the 2019 class LSU lost Reece Hinds, Daniel Espino, Jimmy Lewis and Christian Cairo, all were projected to be day 1 starters or at the least major players on the team. I think LSU gets too many of the really good players. Then they never make it to campus.
