We lost by three TDs in the all white at Ole Miss in 2015. I don't ever want to see that uniform again, and I'd be good if they just burned the white helmets and white pants, period.

nope, that was in 1958. the moved to the sleeves in 1959
Got me on that! Note the number on helmet...this is the biggest thing I miss from earlier times. Never was a fan of the shoulder pad numbers, sleeves are more appropriate.
Trying to remember, w/o searching, if Bama had number on helmet back in those days like they do now? I think they did, but not sure.

Put that gold helmet (w/o the high gloss) on the reply below "Arden Key thinner" jersey with lighter gold pants.

The old gold was not nearly as fluorescent. The only thing I would change on our current uniform is the font used for LSU on the helmet.

Agree with you...I think somewhere read it is called "sunflower gold"??
That said, I do like he current "gold" better than the original, but would like to see the old gold jerseys used as a tribute game each year...or maybe two home games...one 40's gold and one from another era.
Good marketing PR could sell this as how LSU pays tribute to it's rich football tradition.
PS: I despise most of the new gay Nike crap...with a few exceptions. But that's what today is all about, so what you gonna do.

I remember seeing the uniforms back in the 1958-71 era. The purple numerals on the shirts were larger, and there were numbers on the helmets instead of the logo. Also, the shade of yellow, or gold, was somewhat darker, almost orange-yellow. In short, they were AWESOME!

And the old closed-in stripe on the pants is better.

agreed. And the shade of purple on the pant stripe and jersey actually matches the helmet shade of purple. Imagine that.

Our basic uniforms haven't changed outside subtle changes due to advancement in uniform tech.
Look at photos of LSU game jersey's in action. A lot of loose, baggy and bunched up material all over the jersey. Numerals bunched up and wrinkled as well.
They need to use a material that fits much tighter, but with stretch. (Like Lycra used in Scuba Dive skins or 1/2mm neoprene used in lightweight wetsuits)
Numerals need to be a much thicker tackle twill material that wont bunch up.
Adidas jersey's FIT much better............

Wrong on USC. The ones you called "traditional" were started in the 70's and lasted until Pete Carroll went back to the ones they wore in the 60's, with the shoulder stripe, which they wear today.

TRADITIONAL POWERS
Technically LSU isn't a traditional power. LSU hasn't largely been relevant until the last 17 years. (Minus a few years in the late 50s)
