What is the point of telling any coach my gf was raped?
because the alleged rapist was a football player

Normal humans go to the police. They do a proper investigation
this misses the point, no one is expecting the FB coach to investigate a crime but he is responsible for the football team and if he was made aware of allegations against one of his players against another student is is duty bound by policy and Federal Law to report it to Title IX Compliance officials

Don’t be bringing common sense around here. If my daughter claims she’s been raped you think I’m going to a coach or even a school administrator. If your car is stolen on campus do you go to a coach? Did anybody file a police report immediately. Or did they wait years to sue a school.

there is no common sense, this is basically strawman. Going to the police to report a rape and someone else telling the FB coach are not mutually exclusive.

If your car is stolen on campus do you go to a coach
if it was allegedly stolen by a football player and your friend told the coach and the coach was bound by federal law to report it would you expect him to do so?
ETA: if a player did steal your car and the coach knew wouldn't you expect he would at least discipline the player? Also how would you feel if the coach said don't worry about, peoples cars get stolen all the time?

To be fair, if somebody raped my girlfriend, I would want to go beat him up. But then if I found out he was a football player that is much stronger than me, I might think twice. In that case, I would either go to O and/or the police.

Discipline for what, an alleged crime. He said she said. The coach is just supposed to assume guilt? Like I said. Report to police, arrest or not, investigate, jury decides guilt or innocence based on facts. Last I checked rape is a felony.

the coach is required to report things like accusations of sexual assault or harassment to the compliance office once he know about it. he does not need to determine guilt beyond a reasonable doubt to do so.

Like i said you are missing the report, whether the crime was report to the police is beside the point. It was reported to the coach and he is required to report it to compliance, like it or not that is what he is supposed to do. The coach does not have the power to put someone is prison and playing football is not a right so you can disciple a player even if he has not been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. This not one singular accusation. There were multiple reports against the same player (Guice).

i understand and your first impulse is why we have laws.
But again you guys are treating it like you have a choice of going to the police OR reporting it to the coach. You can do both, though in some of these cases (not sure about the specific one with Guice) the police don't take date rape charges too seriously, it is difficult to prove, which is why Federal Government and colleges have gotten more involved.

The flip side of “why we have laws” is to protect people from fraudulent claims. As much as liberals want otherwise we still live under innocent until proved guilty. Anything less is selective application of law.
And the highlighted above is speculation and pure bullshite.
I’m not even taking a side here but your reasoning is …. Lacking to say the least

More involved? So the Feds and schools decide guilt by someone alleging a crime years later with no investigation or trial, kinda like Kavenaugh style.
