Jefferson Safety

This one's a ground view of the safety. Didn't look like he had much time.

3 or 5 receivers, that is what happens when you hold the ball too long. JJ happens to do that far too often and puts the offense in bad down & distance situations.

For whatever reason, IMO JJ is just not able to read all his READS fast enough.
In year 1,
he would take one read, and take off running
After that, he would try to go thru all his reads and kept getting sacked..too much time.

At the Cotton Bowl, I saw coaches adjust to where he seems to do read 1, read 2 and then take off..seldom can he get to read 3....at least , they are not forcing him to do it anymore.

when he tries to do all the reads, he gets in trouble. He just can not do it fast enough.

Only one receiver and zero checkdowns from your own endzone, really?

In that situation, your checkdown is to roll outside tackle and hit the guy sitting three rows back. If only I had the athletic talent to play QB.

The real problem on the play is that our OL couldn't block a simple stunt by the right tackle. And by the way, did you notice TBob getting punked - moved almost 2yds into the endzone.

He had plenty of time to throw it away. He had to make one ONE freaking read and decide to get rid of the ball. He had 3 seconds to make the one read.

while it was a good call, I don't know if it was a good call for JJ.

Which means it wasn't a good call. Everyone in the stadium knows that Jefferson's primary weakness is holding on to the ball and taking sacks, and you put him in a position to do just that. True to form, he did. Now if they had run that play on first down it may have been a good call. But on 3rd and 8 the defense isn't going to bite on the play action; they're playing pass. Poor call, poorly executed.

But so what? It seems like every game the rant picks out Jefferson's worst play and spends the next four days breaking it down and assigning blame. I realize there's not much else to talk about after the WKU game, but jeez.

Eh they called the exact same play in the redzone against florida and JJ threw it away into the stands because Reuban was covered. Hes been able to do it before. The ball should have been out earlier.

Yes asking your QB to throw the ball is setting him up to fail? Come on get real. He made a bad decision not throwing it away Im not bashing the kid but he has made those same bad decisions through out his career.
