Thoughts on offensive game plan?

Before the game yesterday, I thought Ensminger had done a great job with the offensive game plan.

Yesterday was a bit of a shock to me. Flordia was stacking the box and asking for us to throw the ball. When we did throw the ball, we were running these long drawn out routes.

I didn’t understand why we didn’t stick to running quick pass plays like we had done in weeks prior.

This game was a real head scratcher to me. Going into the game, I thought we were the better team and had the better players. After the game, I felt like we just got beat by a better well coached team.

Mullen and Grantham have O and Arandas number.

true but we keep playing them with us missing several key players. That game would have been a lot different with just Phillips playing. We win easily if all 3 of our missing lbs play. We have no pass rush specialist and missing half of our run stopping lb duo.

We really don’t have one.

I’ve been saying all year that it looks like Ensminger just picks random plays from a small set and runs them over and over

There is no creativity and there are no plays designed to exploit mismatches.

We saw yesterday what a creative offensive mind can do when he finds a weakness in a defense.

Florida is not a good offensive team but Mullen put on a clinic on how to call plays.

Easily win? Hard to win when you struggle to score points. I don’t think 3 players would have made a difference unless their names were guice, fournette, and hill.

The issue we had with the quick pass plays is Florida overloaded and blitzed to one side and still getting pressure on the weak side. In addition they played tight man coverage on the line against the receivers to eliminate the quick slants. Where we could have hurt them is across the middle with a tight end. They were tackling the back on the way to the QB to eliminate the inside screen. LSU did all they can to try to protect but our line had its worst game of the season and were continuously beat man to man. The plays we had as potential big plays were brought back due to penalty. Just got no breaks in this game.

It seems like we have a script of plays to start every quarter. We don't find what is working and stick to it. We have a different set of plays that we run each quarter and stick to those no matter what. It's ridiculous

They’re going to be scary good on offense sooner than later

Everytime something would start to work, he’d abandon it. I thought he called great for both Auburn and Ole Miss. But that was a shite show yesterday.

Mullen is finding ways to make it work with Franks at QB

Just wait until he gets his guy in there, it will be a scary team

Yeah we clearly weren’t giving Burrow enough time to operate but did little to nothing to adjust. I do remember one screen pass that worked well though

The game plan went out the window when the Florida defense started putting Burrow on his arse every time he dropped back

LSU has a good script set up but then it all falls apart after that unfortunately

LSU seems to avoid throwing slants or anything over the middle unless its 3rd and long.

At times it feels like we are picking random plays out of a hat

Ensminger didn’t adjust to anything and was just awful

There is no system. It's McClendon's offense from the 70s that got him fired. That what Ensminger knows.

Wear down teams with inferior depth, but lose every big game on the schedule. Mac would go 7-3, 8-2. That's the same as going 9-3, 10-2 today without the rent-a-wins.

We may become the Tennessee of the West if this doesn't change. Then, who WILL want this job?

Why? Because of OM?

Thinking your offense is great because they ran up the score on OM is like fricking the fat slutty girl with the herp and syhillis that everyone passes around and thinking you're Don Juan.

Every team is missing key players, not unique to LSU. BASED ON LAST WEEK TO THIS WEEK, we relapsed into a lazy, conservative offensive game plan that would have been ok during Miles era, but should not show its face in post Miles LSU. Must be ok with O though. He is burning chips.

We tried to roll the pocket. We tried the screen game. We tried the quick passing game.

Our ability to pass protect in this game compared to Miami and Auburn, coupled with those team’s performances last night proved that my own personal theory regarding Florida having a similar Defense to previous opponents was incorrect.

They are much better. Along the front and on the edge. Their slot corner #23 was a field general and a freak in the Secodnary.

We could not protect and our allegedly strength of the team, coached by the best receiver coach on Earth could not get open in the short passing game. It’s a recipe for a loss.

All are tell-tale signs of a bad offensive coordinator.

No creativity with play calling.

An inability to adjust to what the defense is giving you.

Can't take advantage of an opponents's weaknesses and/or scheme to exploit mismatches.

The bad news boys and girls is that this is the man hand-picked by Orgeron to run our offense. He's not going anywhere until O does.
