This times “tree-fiddy”

Act like you’ve been in the end zone before !
I feel BK’s ND players were much more disciplined. Not as explosive, but disciplined. Having little practice or need to work on said discipline, I’m betting there’s a real struggle trying to instill discipline into the majority our players. Who operate on emotion !

Matt House anyone.

Jury is out on Sloan but already questioning the hire….

BK is a clown if he's mad at FB team for the loss. Look in the mirror.

Offensive playcalling in 2nd half. . . ?? We were carving them up with the pass in first half. Then, we go to run-first offense second, and stubbornly stick with it? That's on BK. People blaming Sloan don't know what he was told to call, but BK was sold on our Oline being able to pave the field with SC defenders.

Penalties and lack of discipline. Squarely on BK. Easy fix. After hard practice. . . Offense, gather up. Since Lacy likes to gangsta and get us personal fouls, you all get to go run 20 40's. Then go talk about it afterwards as a unit. Peer pressure fixes that. Same for defense.

Third, don't be an arse and go for it on 4th and 3 at goal on opening drive. Making a 4th and 3 anywhere on the field is a stretch. At goal line, where everything's compressed - almost impossible on average. So. . . BK just turned a great positive momentum - opening drive was awesome - into a negative by going for it and coming away with no points.

I love the way BK talks. I think how he coaches is pretty poor in many cases. Time for BK to punch himself in the face.

Get points first, then as the game progresses with positive offensive plays, maybe go for it. But not at the goal line.

What can you expect from a guy who hired Matt House?

3 years in an we are largely in the same boat as Kelly's first season.

Other than our OTs, we haven't seemed to improve the talent anywhere on the field.

We are a 9-3/8-4 team and it showed. Probably should expect that going forward. Next year will be a whole new OL/maybe QB and will need WR to step up. Defense who knows but you have to think they won't be much better than this year since the Freshman DBs can't be expected to just show up and start.

Very good post.

I think we have actually regressed with key talent though.

QB-huge step back. JD won us games with his legs because we had a very poor run game. Nuss is very good, but without a run game, it is going to be very tough for him to win us games on his own.

WR-another step back. We have solid receivers and Hilton will help if he can stay healthy, but most are undersized which works against us with good teams having bigger DB's.

Defense- We have a much better DC that will get more out of this team than House was capable of. That said, the talent level is lacking and the experience of those with talent that will develop is as well.

OC- Denbrock is gone. Like him or hate him, he used JD perfectly last year. Sloan may turn out good, but he is a huge question mark at best right now.

This team is not ready for championship level ball by any stretch of the imagination.

Covid has nothing to do with it.

However, O left this thing much worse than he found it....as odd as that is to say about a coach who had one of the best teams in college football history.

All the internet hard-asses who want to fire everyone right now don't get it.

If we are at year 5 and having this same conversation, then it is time to find an escape plan from Kelly.

I have believed and have stated that nothing changed dramatically enough with the defensive backfield for us to field a dominant defense, that is still a work in progress. I do think we showed marked improvements and that will help us not go 7-5. I do not think we valued what we were having to replace in JD, with him we win by 14-17 points as he rushes for about 125 on designed and busted play runs. But this season will define the state of the program, if we hold it together and go 9-3 or even 10-2.....we are on the launching pad for a great run. If we go 7-5 and we have more meltdowns and signs of a shite program with tons of transfers out at the end.....we may be in trouble. But this loss is more on the players than the staff, I blame Kelly for the not deferring, not taking the points, and abandoning Taylor when it counted most.

I think this is where I'm at right now. And LSU under Kelly needs to open the season with a cupcake rather than play against a team with a good pulse.

Accurate, rational and reasonable take. I know that’s not popular on TD, but well done.

Add to that list:

- no apparent running game after bragging about the O-line all summer
-QB is one dimensional and still has terrible habits like throwing balls up in the air off his back foot
- bad secondary that will definitely get exposed in SEC play

Hope and pray for 8-4

The issue is always the same. Kelly has a system of offense that limits top talent but allows mediocre talent to play above grade. When nd recruiting was good it was hamstrung by kellys offense...when it wasnt the offense still manufactured points.

Hes a bad fit for you guys, because you can get talent, which he will hold back.

Moreover, he NEVER does second half offensive adjustments. It doesnt matter who your oc is...they are running a version of the Kelly offense. You will start seeing two high safeties
Almost every game. Thats the way everyone played him at nd.

He had the best offense in college football last year.

The quarterback won the Heisman.

Nabers should have won the Biletnikoff.

LSU played not to lose and it cost them. Kelly should have gone for it on 4th down twice in that ballgame in my opinion. He relied on his defense and USC was just too dynamic on Sunday night. LSU had 3-4 golden opportunities on defense to create a turnover. It just didn't happen. The offense was way too predictable in big time situations. I don't care who you are playing if they know what you are going to do they can stop it. Nuss had 1 awful throw all night and it was at the worst possible time in the game. Kelly seemed sincere when he talked afterward about the game. He probably wanted to win more than anyone. He wants a championship. That's his goal. He also loves his players and he had their back. That's a leader if there ever was one. He'll get perceived "culture" issues worked out. I didn't give a prediction on the season b/c I had no idea how good they were going to be defensively. They get things ironed out and start being creative on offense they should run the table and meet up w either Georgia or Texas in SEC championship game. Kelly did take ownership by saying "I have to coach better." Is what it is. Let's see how they look when the SEC schedule rolls around.
