Football should always be played on grass unless it is in a dome... that simple.

This post is stupid.

There have been talks about it being turfed. Obviously others are considering the same idea. None of y'all have valid points about not having turf. Spoke with a couple of former players and they preferred turf. Does not really matter what y'all want it's what's best for the team. Many schools have switched over and do not want to go back to the grass surface. Over time it is cost effective and safe. I don't care how long the stadium has had grass. Check the record of LSU of turf. It's a no brainer

no, that crap gets too hot in the summer and early season games... they took the temp of the turf at La Tech this summer and it was 178 in the turf and near 150 at 20 feet above the turf

I don't believe this for a second.

Yeah, let's change the turf at the place where we dominate nearly everybody.

Those numbers seem a little off.

HOWEVER

Turf does get really hot in the sun. When we went to the stadium at Flower Mound HS to practice before the game in Dallas, we could see the air shimmering about the turf because of how it was. I could even feel the heat through my shoes.

LSU plays mostly at night anyways. So what's your point? Read the article, talks have been conducted and may be necessary. Destroying opponents? LSU has really been killing teams on turf. Again, what is the advantage of a fast team on grass? still no answer. Traditions change all the time at LSU just like their logo, pro combat uniforms, giving up a home game to play in Dallas. Should I continue?

I have played on brand new turf in the middle of the summer when it was 105 degrees 3 straight days and it wasn't anywhere near those numbers. Ya, it's hot, but not like that.

150-170 degrees yea right. Shoes would melt on the field. It's obvious the ones against it have not played or ever walked on a turf field

Did you see my post earlier ?

I saw one of the TV broadcasts the first football weekend that showed the sideline reporter registering 137 deg on the turf, and that was up north.

Yeah I have had 2 a days on turf and it definitely is hotter, but 170 degrees? Hell no. maybe 115 at most.

On another note though I am very much against turf in tiger stadium, would you put turf on lambeau field?

Also turf does bring added injuries that are less common on grass. Like turf toe, and staff infection is more common with a turf field because of those terrible carpet burn type cuts you get anytime you fall on it.

No, that's your opinion. I think it will put LSU at a disadvantage when they have to travel to a field that rivals Soldier Field in horribleness. If a player has a problem playing on the grass, he needs to man up and try to find (or found) an arena football league somewhere.

Thoughts of turf in Tiger Stadium

Prior to this year I was in favor of looking into the possibility of a Field Turf type turf put in, based largely on the LSU grounds crew's inability to grow grass in Tiger Stadium that did not come up and routinely tackle our own players when they made cuts. However, not only did the turf look outstanding last Saturday, there were no noticeable divots being thrown up anywhere. Field looked damn near as good after the game as it did prior to kick off.

If we can grow good grass, I'd prefer grass. If we can't, I'd prefer turf. Shitty grass that hinders our skill guys from being able to do what they do best is no longer an option for me.
