The University of Missouri turfgrass expert found that on a 98-degree day at MU's Faurot Field the surface temperature on the synthetic grass was 173 degrees. Nearby natural grass showed a temperature of just 105 degrees. When Fresenburg took the temperature at head-level height over the faux turf, the thermometer registered 138 degrees.

L.S.U. finally hired a competent turf manager (Eric Fasbender) who installed Celebration Bermuda. The field looked great last year and help up well all season.

I think the grass situation is finally under control and there is no longer a need for field turf.

Have to work on getting bigger LSU logos in the endzones now.

might as well make barney our mascot if we ever put purple turf in. if you are being serious about purpl turf, you are either gay or stupid.

This. The grass is awesome! It's very nice to march on, so I imagine it's good to play football on.

That sounds like a scientific study. I never knew about the insane temperatures that turf produced.

i don't understand the argument of being faster on turf. for example, let's use a 1-10 ranking for each.

oregon on natural grass - 6
lsu on natrual grass - 8

oregon on turf - 7
lsu on turf - 9

no difference. both teams will increase their speed on turf at the same ratio.

besides, WE ARE AN AGGRICULTURAL SCHOOL.

Except for the games against really good teams in the SEC. Then the game is normally a featured CBS game starting at 230 CST

Tha frick is wrong with some of you people?

Earlier today, someone asked why we don't change our mascot from "Fighting Tigers" to just "Tigers".

Now this shite.

Looks alot better than grass if you ask me.

After reading the comments in that link, all I can say is that we have a bunch of dumb asses in our fan base.

Les Miles would never go for this. It's the South and we grow grass just fine in the winter months! Those northern schools go with synthetic because how bad the grass looks into winter.

Does anyone know if Cal Berkeley is staying with synthetic over grass when they finish their stadium renovation?
