Before the band comes down the hill they play in the Pmac. If you wait outside in the back you can watch them walk out. Mike is with them also and he takes pictures with kids back there. I've done that several times.

I was worried about having to leave early the first time I took my four year old son. For that reason I picked the Tulane game. You will be amazed at what a 3-4 yr old finds entertaining. Airplanes with banners, helicopters, cops on motorcycles, people with "silly hair" (purple wigs) He did great, watched the band come down the hill. Also he wanted to roll down the hill right outside the stadium (journalism building???) then he noticed kids with cardboard. He was a lil upset because no one was sharing but later was able to score a cardboard sled. In the stadium popcorn and a bag of M&M's and he was good to go.

P.S. If he is out of diapers now PRAY he does not have to take a dump in Tiger Stadium.

where you from ms tiger fan? just took my son to his 3rd game, his first loss but he had a blast. will be taking the 3 y/o daughter to the OLe Miss game...just take lots of pics, lets him climb around and play everywhere, see the band, buy cotton candy, slide down the mounds WITH him, he will love that! And if you can fit it in let him TIGERBAIT the other teams fans and then thank them, they like that

Don't work him too hard as he won't make it very long after kickoff. He will be more interested in the people and things around him than the game so don't be disappointed. Also, be prepared for him to puke after you leave the stadium. The environment is very stressful for kids that age if they have never been in it before. My daughter puked in the parking lot after her first game at 3. Now she loves it and she is 8.

mytigger nailed it with his 3 items below. And number 3 is the most important. only thing i would add is 4. wear warm clothes and stay dry, or he will be miserable quick. May also want to take some backup things for him to do during the game if he gets bored - coloring book, nintendo ds or whatever will occupy him if he gets restless.

1. cardboard box down the indian mounds
2. stop at the dairy store for ice cream
3. watch the team and Tiger Band come down Victory Hill before the game

Some of my fondest memories as a kid were in TS. And now it's all the more better getting to go to games with my children.

I took my oldest son (3.5 yrs at the time) to his first game vs. OSU to start the ’04 season. There was a big thunderstorm just before the game and we didn’t get to our seats until right at kickoff. Having been out of state for years (first game back in TS since UF in ’97) I had forgotten just how loud TS is. When we first exited the chute into the stadium it was so loud it was hurting his ears to a point that I felt I couldn’t keep him there. Fortunately (at least in one regard), Skyler Green fumbled the opening kickoff and that quieted the crowd. By the time the crowd got back into it he kind of adjusted to the noise and did ok except for one or two moments. I don’t think it’ll be that raucous this Sat. night against Troy but you may want to invest in ear muffs or the like to dampen some of the noise.

PS: you certainly need to have a potty-plan in place.

1. They are also selling tickets to the men's basketball game in the PMAC for $1 each on lsusports.net. The game is at 1pm. Two firsts in one day!
2. Also, make sure you buy the book "Born to be a Tiger" for him as a keepsake. There is a neat page in the back to fill in the details of the game (opponent, final score, etc.)

It also will help if there are other kids adjacent to your seats. My 5 yr old made it all the way through the Tulane game only because there was a 3 yr old in the row in front of us....

Took my daughter at age 11, She was hooked, 3 may be a little tough. He may not understand what is going on. My daughter's first game was LSU vs Ark 2005. She leaned over and told me... "Dad Joseph Addai is awesome!" I knew she got it at that moment.

definitely see the drum line warm up. They do it at around 5 near the amphitheater. Then the band will walk right by you on their way to the PMAC for the TAF pregame. From there go and get a good spot on the PMAC ramp to watch the band and cheerleaders. And most importantly, get good seats in the lower bowl, maybe even chairbacks, to make the experience most enjoyable. Oh and by the way, bring a pillow for the ride home and definitely leave at 1/2. Don't forget the camera. Have fun.

I took my 7 year old nephew to his first game this year (Miss. State). Be warned...it's not as easy taking a kid to a football game as it looks.
We made it to the half before leaving.

Steadily taking notes... Thanks for all the feedback!!!

Yeah, I will be way surprised if he makes it through the first half after all the festivities (which is why I picked Troy game).

Thanks again.

I laugh, but this is in some ways true. Avoid some of the younger tail-gaters, unless you want to explain the rules of beer-pong.

I too will be taking my 3 year old son for his first game this saturday. He always wants to come when we take the older two.. so I figured why not this should be a good game for a child so young. He loves his tigers! My plan is to leave at halftime unless he's just dying to stay!
