Is transponder the same as spotbeam? I made the switch from Monroe and I get the local channels but it says that they are working on getting me CST. When I go to Menu, Installation, Point Dish... I don't see spotbeam, I see Tuner Input, Transponder and Satellite?

THANK YOU NCAA AND THANK YOU UCLA FOR NOT HAVING THE FACILITIES TO BROADGAST GAMES BACK TO THE TIGER NATION! AND THANK YOU COX FOR HAVING A MANOPOLY ON LSU SPORTS...

aint that the truth.....back then they could do what u wanted...now a days you have to press a million numbers and talk to five different people who all give you different answers, and at the end of the day, you're right back where you started...all for the price of 80 bucks a month...what a deal!

The intentions of my previous post was for folks to be able to make sure they can receive the CST channel before they called in. If you press menu on your remote and then 6, 1, 1 it brings you to the point dish screen. If you put the satellite at 110 and the transponder to 23 you will be able to detect whether you have a strong enough signal or not. The transponder notation will change to "spotbeam" if you are getting the proper signal.

You can check this link, satelliteguys.us, to see if you are in the proper location as well. The map shows the area that is covered by the spotbeam. The actual spotbeam is 12, but it will not show up on the point dish screen. It will only show as spotbeam with 23 under it.

You can also go to satelliteguys.us and do a search on "Moving" for more info on how to "move".

If you cannot get a signal on satellite 110, transponder 23, you won't be able to get it.

I know this is somewhat confusing and I apologize for that. Just ask questions and I will try to help if I can.

Powerlineman,

Just did the check you recommended

I have a poor signal on that Sat and transponder. On the map link you have, I am inside the yellow circle, but out of the green. Can my dish be manipulated to increase the signal strength and get cst?

I'm on the road so didn't read everything. Cst is not on every tier. Only top 2. If you don't have the 200 pkg or above. You may not get it.

On my guide on channel 421 it's showing high school football at 4:00. I hope the guide is wrong.

I'm glad this worked for some of you. Seems like powerline man has it down to a science.

Just got back home. One box is showing the channel, the other is having trouble.

Powerlineman, is there anyway I can increase the strength of the signal myself? I am on the outer portion, but inside the yellow line of the map you linked to us.

Everything seems to be working fine for me, and I only had to call once, but the guy I got was not in India as some of you seem to have encountered. I was able to tune to the channel yesterday and it still shows up on my guide, though it doesn't have the game listed on the guide, though in the stickied thread someone mentioned that Dish said this was a guide error and the game would be on no matter what the guide says. I just hope it stays on and I can see the game at 4:00. Good luck to the rest of you.
