That game being changed to 1pm a few years back as well being in the new stadium certainly has made the game a lot more attractive to me than it has looked in the past.
I don't understand the notion that there is "not much to do in Dallas" ... there are the same things to do in DFW as any other major city, if not quite a few more things. Certainly more to do in Dallas than Orlando IMO, unless you enjoy the whole amusement park tourist deal. I like walking around Disney world and all, but it's not something that I "crave."
I'm going for the game, the bars, the friends, and everything else is lagniappe.

The Cotton Bowl is more prestigious and has more history.
While it does have more history, the Cotton has fallen behind the traditional "big" bowls (the classic Orange, Rose, Sugar and Cotton were the only four bowls that counted, once upon a time), and in the BCS era, the Cap One (the old Tangerine or Florida Citrus Bowl for you old timers) now carries more punch, and is arguably the best non-BCS Bowl.
The Cotton is in that next tier, along with the Outback (Hall of Fame Bowl) and Chick-fil-a (Peach).

cap one is still the best non-BCS bowl so that would be the choice.

I hope for Cotton but my reasons are purely selfish. I live in Dallas and don't often get to see my Tigers play.
That said, I simply hope for the best possible bowl for the Tigers, I just won't be able to go see them in Orlando.

With those new digs, I bet the Cotton is a BCS bowl before long.

I think so too.

Cotton for me. Orlando sucks and DW is for kids.

For what it's worth, the Austin American Statesman predicted on Sunday that LSU would end up at the Cotton Bowl.

who is the stadium normally used by?
It is not really used on a regular basis. UCF has their own stadium now. Jones High School Tigers, that is right next to it, uses it. Ironically, Jones has the same uni design as LSU, except green and orange. They play the Southern Classic (our version of the Bayou Classic) and that is about it.

Yep, no bars over here.
Lets see in Orlando we would have:
GAME ... check
BARS ... check
FRIENDS ... not sure if your friends would come, but the Orlandeaux Alumni would welcome you!

Hey, like I said, we're going to have a blast either way... whether it's Orlando or Dallas.
I would just rather the Cotton this year.

the media exposure for the Cotton Bowl would be much bigger in the long run for LSU. this is Jerry's 1st year of HUGE events to be in the Death Star. ESPN & print media are going to be all over it. more recruits across the states of Texas & Oklahoma will have news/media coverage of the bowl game itself, no matter who plays. we have a much larger fan base in those states as opposed to Florida. yes, we still pull great athletes from Florida but we compete more against UT, OU, & the like closer to LA.
throughout the entire state of Florida right now Teebow & UF are everywhere. LSU will not compete with that exposure wise. the blue & orange kool-aid is being consumed by almost everyone around here (i currently live in orlando).
i agree with the main guy on this thread topic-the payout comes out in the wash. and actually, having us play closer to home could result in larger alumni donations to TAF/LSU from the more local fat cats.
