This Would Be Better Than Our Squib/Short Kickoffs

So we can't kick the ball in the endzone or Les/BDP thinks a squib or a short, high kickoff is a better tactic.
I was re-reading Dave Maraniss's biography of Vince Lombardi and there was this blurb on the 1962 NFL championship vs. the NYG:
Willie Wood kicked off for the Packers. He had the strongest leg, and Lombardi liked to have him back there as a sure-tackling last resort in case the runner broke clear.
Obviously, these were the final seasons before the advent of the kicking specialist. RB Paul Hornung and OG Jerry Kramer were Lombardi's placekickers.
But not a bad idea, having a HOF DB kick off and put another sure tackler on the field.
Maybe it's time to come full-circle and go back to the days of non-kicking specialists on kickoffs--at least for a team like us who can't get it into the end zone.
These guys are great athletes. Surely one of the good DBs or a fast LB can learn to kick off consistently and put it between the 10 and the 20--and you have another sure tackler on the field.
If we were consistently kicking it out of the endzone, then this is irrelevant. But seeing as we can't and are relying on squibs and high short ones, I think this is a better alternative.

Ummmm. NO.
While this is an incredibly stupid idea, I do thank you for attempting to contribute.

If we arent or cant find someone to kick it to the endzone....and we are gonna kick it to the 10, might as well find a tackler to kick it to the 15

Get that leg loose, Jamal Adams!

Interesting. If our designated kicker is doing nothing more than kicking to the 15 yard line then why not work with a defensive player who can do the same. I see the obvious merit. What would be the downside assuming someone could provide, at the very least, equal kickoff quality?

How about we recognize the "kick short pin deep" strategy doesn't work because our cover team sucks and then just unleash Cameron's howitzer of a leg and let the kid put it through the endzone, into the portal, and crash land it into the Zatarin's jambalaya vendor?
