This weekend will determine if O actually can learn from mistakes

This year is playing out in an eerily similar fashion to last year.
Week 1 - Neutral site blowout, but left opportunities on the table or it could have (and should have) been much worse. Lack of execution in the red zone both years and tons of penalties vs BYU. Against Miami the team basically shut it down at half. Offense did almost nothing and defense gave up 2 easy scoring drives.
Week 2 - Win over FCS opponent that was sloppy at times. Defense got off to a slow start vs Chatt and again had tons of penalties. Against SLU the offense literally did nothing the entire second half, while the defense gave up the vast majority of its yards in the second half.
Then we go into week 3, our first SEC road game. Some glaring issues but we're 2-0 right? The glaring issues came back to bite us in the arse in a huge blowout loss. Many dumb penalties and a lack of discipline got two defensive linemen ejected from an already thin front, and extended several state scoring drives. That lack of discipline also showed up in a few big missed assignments.
So this year, O has a chance to earn his money. We are 2-0 yet again, but like last year have some glaring issues. The biggest are, obviously, Oline play and whatever the hell is happening to the team at halftime. Obviously, the Oline isn't going to be rebuilt in one week. No one is expecting that. What everyone is expecting is at least an attempt to scheme around that. If we show up with nothing but more max protect, 2 WR route combos we'll know he has learned nothing. If we come out and show some spread, quick hitters, screens, and maybe even jet sweeps to get our athletes out on the edge and counteract our biggest weakness, then we'll know he has learned, and is taking steps in the right direction.
Also watch out for the second half. If its a close game at half and Auburn comes out and destroys us in the second half I might just lose all hope. If we come out and scheme against our obvious weaknesses and issues then I'll live with the result. If not, then I don't need to see any more to know O won't ever be the answer.
I've got faith that our defense can keep this one close. Let's see what O and E can come up with on offense to execute the few times we will need to in order to win this one.

It certainly is a put up or shut up game for O. He's promised championships and this is a game that a championship wins.

If we play a close game to the end and lose O will be fine. If we get blown out and the offense looks terrible then O will be back on an extremely hot seat.

Like I said, if he shows he can scheme around our issues I'm good no matter what happens. If not, I'm not good.

I think the mistakes are on coach "E" he has not proven $hit on offense. Coach O coaches the defensive line. Our defense is the ONLY reason we are 2-0 and not 1-1. Coach $%^&ing E needs to prove to the LSU fans that he knows what the hell he is doing as OC.

I dont see us getting blown out. Our defense is too good. Our offense will determine who wins. Auburn is going to score.

O has a long and well-documented history of learning from his mistakes, so I feel good about this game.

Auburn is going to score.
LSU is going to score too, even if it is just from field goals and a pick six or something.

Agreed, Defense will keep this game close and LSU offense will determine the winner.
3rd down play selection is Key. Past 2 games LSU has tried to run on 3rd and short, don't need to be scared to pass.

We get blown out if our offense goes 3 and out too many times and leaves the D on the field the entire game.
We probably get blown out if we're -2 in the turnover ratio.
And we are due to turn it over once or twice.

I agree. This is big determining factor here. The offense needs to at least move the ball some, get some first downs, and spell the defense, even if the result is only field goals.

And there it is, just as predicted. Everything is in motion to throw Ensminger under the bus. Pathetic

We were not winning a championship this year. We brought back virtually none of our offensive production from last year, leaving us with inexperience at each major position. The attrition on the OL via transfers, early draft entries and this years suspension have left us with very little on the offensive line. That's not an excuse. It's a fact. O mad it worse by hiring Ensminger and possibly Cregg.

I have little confidence in the offense based on what we've seen thus far. Recruitment misses on running back two years in a row catches up with you. The aforementioned OL line problems are real and not easily corrected. Throw in Ensminger's questionable credentials and the scheme he is attempting to run and it seems a foregone conclusion that we will struggle on the plains.
Honestly, aside from Aranda and Raymond, this appears to be the weakest coaching staff of any of the big 6 SEC programs.
Orgeron has bet his future on Ensminger.

If he goes under the bus, so does the guy that fought to have him as his OC

We all know that E is the handpicked OC. What leads you to believe that O does not have his hands in the offense?

Yeah
I don’t think that’s his job anymore.

I hope has learned from his mistakes, but if history is any indicator, he hasn't learned shite.

That would be the logical scenario. I don't really expect logical things to happen anymore, TBH.

Yea well Coach O did hire Steve E when he could have gotten someone else so I would honestly like to see some good game planning from him. I think he has the ability to get it done but he needs to open this thing up a bit and figure out how to beat these pressure situations. There's tons of things you can do to counter that and one thing is a great screen game but you have to execute that play perfectly to really hurt the other team. Mixing in some good RPOs with quick pass options and motion Chase and Jefferson to the open areas. Create mismatches in space. Move fast but efficient. Yes we can establish the run but let's wear them down a bit first. Let's hurt their ego a bit. That line will be aggressive and play smart. Need to give them a few things they haven't seen from us yet and we need to be very good at what we doing.
That's why I didn't want Steve to be trying to mix in several offenses into one. Just pick somethings we do real well, go with it and mix it up. We really need to establish an elite type of screen game. I liked those looped in routes we were doing vs Miami. Bring that back into the mix if they play off the WR.
Have a designed jet sweep fake where we set up a WR screen on the opposite side of the sweep action. Do that a few times in the game and give it to the sweep man a couple of times. Do some real RPO stuff with the QB and have lots of short route concepts. Have Jefferson and Chase running hot routes into voided areas where the blitz opens up that area of the field.
Once you hurt them with those two players their eyes will be all over them and then you can hit them with some PA over the top or a long post that cuts across the field and have another big WR run a corner route behind that so the safety has to choose and the QB can read him. Have the WRs that's hurt them most run underneath to distract also.
Let's go fast but be efficient. Throw it short to the TEs and FBs for some physical football. We will have to use something that they haven't seen and that LSU is very good at doing. I'm looking forward to this game. Should be a good one and LSU can beat this team.
