You have good depth in case of injury. I give Paul a pass for this regional because when Labas and Hilliard went down there is just no way you win a regional. However, we never even developed a Saturday starter much less a Sunday starter this season. Hughes and Broussard are absolute liabilities, had no answer when Smith went down.

Top teams? You mean the 4 of 6 Top seeds who didn’t make it out their home field?

I agree completely with your post...
However, this board is only marginally reasonable under the best of circumstances. This thread is going to go about the way I would have expected after yet another humiliating loss.

Did you know that Labas as Storz were supposed to be competing for Sunday starter? Did you know Eric Walker would be our Friday starter. He gets a pass because he got us to regionals despite the injuries and losing Smith after game 1.
We replaced our entire freaking pitching rotation. Hess is good but I like him as closer.
I don’t like losing but some of you are unrealistic.
I agree he needs to step up recruiting and he seems to have done that with this years class.
Counting Walker, we have 4 quality pitchers who are not playing this weekend. There is no chance we beat this OSU team. With them would have been tough.
Broussard also got injured and was out for a month. He was doing well before the injury. Hughes was a freshman and shouldn’t be playing. I think he’ll get better.
Watson has really disappointed me this season. Both at the plate and in the field.

Next year we get Gibbs back as Hitting Coach. Don't know if Ochinko was ready for that. He will probably be a good coach, but your first hitting job is at the best program in America. Not fair for him.
Will Cain go anywhere?

With them LSU still doesn’t hit and gets beat

This game was over after the NWST game ended. OSU is too good and we have 0 pitching. Moffit pitching is how bad it is.
The 14 runs and 10 runs prove it. We aren’t beating this team mostly because they are better but also because we were behind early on before we even had a chance.

embarrassing. No one to blame except for the coach.
CPM is definitely not a top notch coach. Every year at some point in the tournament the team just doesn’t look prepared for the moment. We get totally outplayed in every facet.

Please look at last year you fricking moron.
You can’t win them all and we were damn close last year.

Were were plenty prepared, we just ran out of pitchers. We lost game 1 by 1. And we were only down 1 game 2 until Florida scored 4 in the bottom of the 8th. Prepared had nothing to do with why we lost to Florida. When Walker went down in game 2, that totally fricked our pitching rotation. That we were able to get to the finals was amazing. Last year was one of Mainieri's best coaching jobs.

These injury excuses are getting old. Every year it’s shoulda woulda coulda with the injuries.
CPM teams lack mental toughness to overcome adversity. Always some kind of excuse in the end.

Why does everyone have excuses we just got our butts handed to us this year.

It's not a fricking excuse, it's a reality.

Holy shite, we had to start Russell fricking reynolds in the championship series because Mainieri wasn't going to throw Lange, who had just been drafted in the 1st round, on 3 days rest. We overcome a ton last year during the CWS to get that far. Gilbert and Lange threw back to back gems against the #1 team in the country.
gtfo here with this "they weren't mentally tough" bullshite

Recruiting isn't the only problem. This team has made fielding errors, bad pitch selection, running bases to say nothing of mental lapses. I'm referring to baseball IQ that should have cured these problems at the age of 14 or 15 in most cases.
With few exceptions we are not at all elite athletic, have at best average pitching and team speed.
Yes, we had to replace several players from a pretty good team last year so it tells me we aren't "reloading" as the parlance goes. Worst I've seen LSU baseball in 15 yrs.
You have no idea how it pains me to say this and I wish nothing but improvement for the current guys and those coming in. Very hopeful that something will help to improve this situation.

Recruiting has gone down so far, I don’t know how we get it back up to par...

Every year for the past 10 years at some point in the playoffs a CPM team will either choke or totally shite the bed like today. He doesn’t handle the pressure well and it reflects on his players.
It’s inevitable every single year at some point in the playoffs. You can count on it
