Keep telling everyone how extremely overrated this team is and to not be surprised if they don't reach Omaha. I see no way at all they get there the way they are playing right now.

"I see no way at all"

I said the same thing after the Fla. and Bama football games bout Coach O getting the HC gig, but shite happens.

Why don't we wait a little longer into the SEC season before we throw the team under the bus.

And what exactly has he done?
um, made omaha 4 times in 6 years with a record of 8-8? that's pretty competitive

"disappointing"

I don't see 5 tournament titles, 3 SEC titles, 4 CWS trips, and a NC in 10 yrs as "disappointing", but each to our own.

Some don't seem able to understand that we no longer live in the college baseball world of the 80ies and 90ies.

How anyone can look at the PM resume and not find it impressive is beyond me.

Maybe your expectations are to high. Preseason poles are pure fantasy. Basing your expectations on preseason polls is like building a house on shifting sand.

meaningless in college baseball. omaha is what counts

you mean 3?

NC in 10 yrs
starting to become a distant memory. only 1 cws win since then. you would have loved larry coker

that's not the problem. it's that in the context of what other programs are accomlishing

Mainieri has coached LSU to the CWS four times: 2008, 2009, 2013 and 2015.

This myth needs to go away. They have all those things more than most schools but they are not significantly as large as it used to be and they are equal to plenty of other schools. State, Arky, A&M, Florida, Ole Miss, and Vandy just in the SEC put up just as much resources as LSU.

There is a scholarship limit and roster limit these days that used to not be. You can't just stockpile talent and have them wait 3 years to play like Skip used to do. Those players are going to the Coastal Carolina's, UC Santa Barbera's and Kent State's of the world now.

This team has to improve I don't think anybody is saying they don't. What most of us "sunshine pumpers" are trying to say is wait give them a shot there is still two months left in the season before the SEC tourney. This time last year people were wondering if they would even make the NCAA tourney and they got a national seed. CPM's teams always make a run late in the year.

Schlossnagle's 4 appearances in 13 years produced 0 hardware which seems to be what all the bitching is about, or would you trade the CWS trophy for 8-8 record?

What are other programs accomplishing?? Name one coach right now that you would hire over PM?? Just one and I bet I can make a great argument against it. Please tell me you want Andy Lopez or Pat Casey

Not enough time as I'm about to leave work. But I can tell you that Brian O'Connor has a 12-8 CWS record in 4 appearances. Champs, Runner up, 3rd place, and 5th. No 2 and Q stints.

We should hire O'Sullivan since Florida owns us; or Schlossnagle since TCU owns us. Either one would do. Oh wait, neither coach has won a national title? Oops.

Some LSU fans expect the type of dominance that we had in the early to mid 90s. But the fact of the matter is that no one is dominating college baseball in this landscape. Not one coach, and not one school. LSU has been consistently a top 5-10 type program under Mainieri. He's not going anywhere anytime soon, nor should he.

He isn't coming to LSU. One he won a NC at Virginia so they will never run him out of town like the people here would try and do for a guy striking out and two LSU would have to fire his friend/mentor in CPM to get him. So you can name one coach that isn't going to ever coach here that has a better record in the CWS but still the same amount of championships.
