I was thinking this watching the comparative highlights lasts weekend.

Most of the work on Nix TD's was done by the receiver, it wasn't a hard throw, it was great run after catch.

JD is often downfield and a beautiful throw.

And one is doing all that in SEC and the other didn't make it in SEC.

Wonder how many rushes JD has for over 20 yds too.

Now go ahead and compare JD’s total completions plus and his 20+ runs. I bet it’s ridiculous.

Another crazy stat was Daniels has more 20+ yard plays as an individual than any team.

What are the 20+ yard completions for Daniels?

Daniels came to play against SEC competition while Nix ran from SEC competition.. neither Nix or Penix name should be mentioned in the running for the Heisman Trophy…

4600 total yds 46 TDs
Vs
3700 total yds 40 TDs

Why are we even having a discussion?

Daniels clearly deserves the Heisman, but this is a bogus argument. The QB position doesn’t get harder in the SEC. It used to, back when the SEC played defense, but that’s long gone.

Because blindly looking at stats out of context is silly. Racking up stats on a team with no defense and 3 losses vs doing what's needed to win on a playoff team.

While I understand your argument, it is flawed. The number of NFL draft picks and the amount paid to defensive coaches shows that they at least try to play defense more than other conferences. I don't know stats, but I would imagine they bear that out

It’s tough to prove this with stats because each conference’s defenses obviously are playing against its offenses primarily but I believe the SEC defenses are still much better than the Pac-12 top to bottom.
