This may be a hot take but spears was a bigger loss than weeks

We miss the coverage and physicality he brought from the nickel spot. Cooley is virtually unplayable agasint rank teams with a pulse they target and make big plays vs him in coverage.
Woodland can kick inside as a true nickel but he struggles tackling so when teams go run he can’t hold up from that spot. Spears at nickel also allows you to let Benefield spy on mobile QB’s more often also

Said it at the time and will say it again now, spears was a massive loss.

Whit gets a LOT of hype and plays hard for those 3 games a season but I think Dottery is a better LB. Certainly more durable.

Agree-Benefield not playing his true position is killing us

It’s not Dottery that’s the problem. It’s Keys. Zero instincts, out of position often, and when he’s in the right spot, he’s too slow. We had a real chance to turn one of their last TD’s into a FG, but he took a horrible angle on Russell and missed a chance to force them into a tough call.

Dottery is def the better athlete but he has rocks for brains

he’s too slow
He’s not bad in the box but agree when he has to go sideline to sideline in pursuit or coverage he’s a step behind
